it's a tech demo, they were trying to get funding to develop the full game so they gave people something to see what they're capable of. Bugbear (devs of this) also made Flatout and Flatout 2, both AMAZING games. Wreckfest was the name they gave it when it was ready for alpha testing, before that it was known as "next car game". You should get the full game and try it, it's really fun.
