Another great video. Just yesterday I purchased one of the landscape painting videos from your website. The price was very reasonable, and was worth it just for the painting notes alone. Can't wait to dive into it today!

Thanks greatly Samuel for your enjoyable video inspiring others with brilliantly explained calmly how you've achieved amazing images and colour true to life, I'm still working on watercoloring but like seeing your creativity with ease. Have you always held your brushes at the end? . Do you find t gives you the opportunity to see your work while continuing to paint?,thanks Greatly appreciating stay safe and healthy

Thank you so much Philip. Yeah I have been holding my brushes at the end like that for years, I have found I get really nice marks by painting this way....but everyone is different so do what feel comfortable to you. Thanks again 😊

Those pine trees really pop! Excellent job as always, Sam. BTW is that a home made mahl stick we could see at the end? Would love to know how you made it if it is.
@SamuelEarpArtist3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much. Actually this mahl fork was made by a guy in Australia at: mahlfork.com/ I'll have to put a link to the company in the video notes 😊

Is your block in stage a more mid tone value on everything so that you can push values in either direction? I would like to paint in this style I feel I am too tight when I paint.
@SamuelEarpArtist2 жыл бұрын
When I block in a painting, I paint my shadows first so that I can create atmospheric depth. In general I keep my values a little darker as I work through the painting so I have plenty of room for adding my lightest values at the end of the painting. Something that can help you to loosen up your painting style is try and use the biggest brushes you can get away with. Flat brushes are great to use as well. The other thing is try plein air painting (painting outdoors) as this help you too 😊
@davemalt24513 жыл бұрын
Sam, would you use the same method ( negative spacing) if you were using acrylics.. Love the painting. Thanks, Dave M.😎🇦🇺
@SamuelEarpArtist3 жыл бұрын
Yes, absolutely, I would approach a painting in the same way if I was painting in acrylics instead of oils 😊

Your accent sounds like the teacher in Willy Wonka. I'm curious if you're from the same area of England? Not saying you should know where he is from, just accents are curious to me.
@SamuelEarpArtist11 ай бұрын
I grew up in South West England, in Exeter, Devon. I have a bit of a West country accent. I moved to New Zealand 15 years ago so not sure if my accent is a little diluted.

Foreground looks empty .What can be added ?? 🤔🤔
@SamuelEarpArtist3 жыл бұрын
You have to be careful not to over complicate your painting as it can spoil the composition. Simplicity in design can often make the most engaging paintings 😊
@akshayborlikar3 жыл бұрын
@@SamuelEarpArtist I think you are right . But some rocks or a fallen log or long blades of grass can be added. You must take a reference of Albert Beirstadt's paintings. I saw one of his painting with same composition. 2 trees in the left ,a empty void in the right ,But there were no gaps between branches and the trees were really dark in color. The empty void was the only light zone in the painting.He also painted some rocks and long blades of grass in the Foreground. May be you can get a idea for a larger version of this painting.😏😏😏
