Book was written in 1957 by Ayn Rand - not from the thirties, if you read the book you would know it. no good on your shelf as a trophy - Those who do not read are the same as those who cannot read. Who is John Galt LOL.

Check the title page. Atlas Shrugged was published in 1957. You may be thinking of Howard Scott's Technocracy movement. That was founded in the 1930's. There are similarities in the elevation of scientific and technical expertise. However, while Atlas Shrugged is a pro-capitalist conception of objectivism, the Technocracy Movement was socialist in character.

The movie is based on the book by Ayn Rand that she first published in 1957 - so no, she didn't have Trump or Musk in mind as Trump was only about 9 at the time and Musk hadn't yet been born. The movie stays reasonably close to the book's original overarching themes and plots.

I kinda feel like they set out to make this a 'direct to dvd' or B movie. People always say "the book is better than the movie" and it often is, but this is what happens when you are so exacting to the book and no creativity of the director and or modern tech is allowed in, you get just kind of a 'meh' type movie, when it could have been one of the all time greats. It's like the Taggart brother made the movie and not Dagny Taggart! It's still good, the 3 part thing sucks, but worth the watch nonetheless.
