I know exactly what you mean, watching those trains has got a hypnotic quality to it, i found myself just kinda losing time just watching them, although usually on slightly smaller layouts, because on big complex ones, derailments and mass pile-ups soon bring you back to reality lol !

@@samueljaros I actually have a lot of track and I build track quite regularly and I loose track of time too I can just watch it for hours but I don't have enough track to build like really big ones but I tend to get some on my birthday. and thank for the kind reply!

Not to mention that for big layouts, you also need the space. I've bben lucky enough to be able to use for a number of consecutive summer a disused classroom, but the local council has now put the building up for sale.

What is your first plarail train?

If you mean the first one I ever bought, I'm not sure I can actually remember because it was such a long time ago. I know we started with Thomas trains when my sons were little, and then we progressed to Plarail. Probably one of the Shinkansens, the 400 series maybe.

How did you make the cars move on the tracks?

The cars are powered by an internal battery.

They are the Tomica road cars. The road system was part of the Tomy range, but it has long been discontinued. Ebay is probably your best chance to find vehicles and road parts, but there are not that many around.

Lots ! That was just about the most complex layout that I ever came up with, it was very difficult to manage, especially in an exhibition situation !

Very cool layout Samuel and congratulations on breaking your record. Does it take you longer to build your layouts or taking it down and storing everything away?

Thank you Super. I had to run 2 exhibitions a week apart, so the floor part of the layout had to be dismantled, and rebuilt a week later ! I tend to build on my own, it takes about a whole day for this type of layout) and I get various members of ny family to help with taking down and putting away, which makes the process quicker.

How do you maintain these trains? Do you remove the batteries of they're not in use?

My collection is only being used a few weeks every year, and the rest of the year is in storage. So yes, I remove all batteries when the trains are not in use, and store them in a dry, dark place, as sunlight will cause discolouration to the plastic..
