I have that exact trumpet mute, bought it on a whim a couple months ago. I don't play that much trumpet so I couldn't really justify investing in a nicer mute, so I figured might as well buy a cheaper one to mess around with. I had my initial doubts, but after it arrived in the mail, I can say it definitely exceeded my expectations! For the price it's not bad at all.

@@j1m0thy Exactly, it’s plenty good enough for the price! I’m not at all a fan of cheap Chinese-made practice mutes, but their straight mutes are perfectly adequate.

Nice roundup of random things. I don't think I'd ever buy the stand because of how cheap the original already is to begin with. Wouldn't get the gigbag either but because I'd be worried at carrying it anywhere, it looks super flimsy. Those mouthpiece kits are something I'm always curious to try, was close to pulling the trigger on a Stomvi kit last year, but when I went to the shop to try it I ended up buying a Brasslab Momo mouthpiece instead, and that was enough money to spend on mouthpieces for me. Surprised the Temu kit sounded as nice as it did, same with the mute. Also want to point out that if you use the lyre on a reverse leadpipe like that, you're likely moving your tuning slide everytime you change a sheet held by the lyre. Most reverse leadpipes don't really have a good spot for lyres as far as I'm aware, the Yamaha Xeno is one of the few exceptions, you can mount it next to the finger hook.

@@campas7182 Fair assessments all around. The stand and gig bag both are mostly just going to sit at home for me. Honestly the mouthpiece kit surpassed my expectations most. I thought no way the tolerances would be good enough for everything to be airtight and for all four sizes to sound (a) quite nice and (b) different from the others. Also, your point about lyres on reverse slides is a big part of why I don’t usually bother with them. I suppose I wouldn’t run into that issue on my Conn 38B, though.

Which temu trumpet do you recommend. Do I have to pick the bundle items or do they send them I want to get the modular mouthpieces

@@TnSn5 (a) They’re all basically the same. Generic Chinese design/manufacturing with virtually no quality control. (b) Temu is better for accessories than instruments. Don’t get instruments from them. So many good used trumpets exist in the price range of $100-200 that I don’t consider brand-new Chinese instruments worth it. The lack of quality control means you might end up with a real stinker. Just my two cents.

I believe they sell truing tools. Great to have with you on gigs to fix mouthpiece shanks.

@@KerryLorah I would indeed have gotten one from Temu if I didn’t already have one from Allied as a gift from my old boss at the repair shop. Very nice to have around. It makes you the coolest brass player in the section, lol.

I also have one of the cheap straight mutes. I think it would work a little better if there wasn't so much cork. If there was less, more of the mute would fit in the horn, and it might be a little closer to the sound of the other mute. Anyway, thank you for this, it was very informative.

I’ve had to do that to my H&B mutes but didn’t think to apply the same here because the corks didn’t look too thick to me on this one, but you’re most likely right. The sound being “not as muted” should have tipped me off. Thanks for watching and for the kind words!

@@directcurrent5751 Thank you! Yes, I do. I can’t see myself being a professional musician. Trying to play at anything near a professional level destroys my mental state as I get completely caught up in practice. Were I to do music professionally I’d be miserable.
