As Sierra Leone steps into 2024, Dr. Samura Kamara, leader of the main opposition All People's Congress (APC), urged citizens to embrace unity and collaboration in his New Year message.
Reflecting on a turbulent year marked by post-election controversies and civil unrest, Kamara acknowledged the nation's challenges but emphasized the resilience and potential evident amidst them.
"The past year has tested our reserve, our unity, and our commitment to democracy," he stated. "Yet, we have seen acts of courage, unity, and unwavering belief in our nation's intact potential. It is our common humanity and nationality as Sierra Leoneans, rather than our political, regional, or tribal lineages, that unite us."
Looking ahead, Kamara focused on the theme of unity, calling for collaboration and engagement across the political spectrum. "In 2024, we stand at the precipice of a new beginning, another defining moment in our times," he declared.
He emphasized the importance of oneness, particularly within the APC itself. "I implore each member to stay loyal to the party," he stressed. "As a law-abiding citizen, I respect our party's constitution and have no intention to breach any part of it. So must you all.".
