I think the "Farting Dragon" episode and "Jack's sandals" is worse than Aku's fairy tails or The Creature. But I totally agree about the worst episode being the last one by far. The old seasons had some mediocre episodes, but at least they were closed in on itselves, without detracting from the central plot. Now the last episode is the worst not only because it's poorly written, it's also bad because it messed the whole message of the show.

Farting Dragon is right down there the worst episodes.
@notrealnamenotatall24762 жыл бұрын
...It occurs to me that all of this could've been fixed if Jack WAS older in this season. Think about it, a much older Jack is starting to lose his skill after years of fighting Aku, leading to his feeling of being a failure. Ashi is no longer his love interest, but his protege, his adopted daughter learning from the old master and helping in the final strike against Aku. A battle where Jack is gifted the king's garb teased in the old show by his followers before the final battle, wrapping it up full circle. And what's great about this is that whether Jack stays in the future or returns to the past, it suddenly has weight. If he returns to the past, he returns as an elderly man aged by his experiences in the future. If he stays in the future, he is now a benevolent king ruling in Aku's place alongside his friends and family.
@flaviacj91772 жыл бұрын
100% agree. Season 5 begged for an Sensei Jack. Just imagine how cool would be see an older Jack training a little badass girl. But Genndy just wanted to write a love story and that fucked the end.

Imagine if you will, Aku realize he can't win in the future, so he goes back to the past which Jack had to follow with Ashie. Nearly defeated past Aku when Aku pull one last trick, unite himself with dark Jark, a perfect combination of Aku evil power and personality combine with Jack fighting skill and critical thinking. A 2v1 of Jack and Ashie vs Aku Jack. Ashie sacrifice herself, left at death door, to weaken Aku Jack to level the battle. As rain fall over field, with an action pack fighting scene, ending with Jack and Aku delivers a fatal blow to each other. Aku Jack turn to ash, as Jack laying on the ground dying, Ashie crwaling on being on death door, each telling how much they help each other, For Jack finding hope that he thought he lost, and for Ashie, given a seconds chance for a new beginning which the future now has (Aku really screwed up a lot thing across the universe, not just earth). Ashie heal Jack before she too fade into ash. Jack while sad was about to reunite with his family and village. Show some progress of Jack new life of now helping building a new future starting rebuilding his village then translation into future to some of people that Jack help in Aku timeline meaning up for some celebration that happened to be in Jack home village. Shown Jack still carry some influence for a better future

Yeah... that giant blue bunny/bear was totally a reference to My Neighbor Totoro. But a really bad one at that. They totally missed the point/metaphor. Totoro is supposed to be a death god and the whole story is based around a true story of a little girl's drowning. The ending is ambiguous because it's like are the two kids dead at the end or not? Weird that they are up in that tree, no? (And the Japanese version leans more to the idea that we are seeing their spirits in the tree based on what the mother says) Anyway so dissapointing with this pathetic excuse for a reference. I know that Totoro is more of a little kids movie but it was still deep and gripping. Jack was just ... smh 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️

The Crystal of Cagliostro is actually another reference. "My Neighbor Totoro" is a very well known Miyazaki film, for which the creature is a reference, however the first feature length film Miyazaki directed was called "Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro."

@CarlolucaS2 жыл бұрын
Yes, correct. Aku is quite literally her father. It goes so far that when Aku dies she also dies. That is how deep their relationship goes. She rejects him as a father. That's also true but none of that fits overall with the message of the episode or finale. I think it is again just supposed to be a joke but I fail to understand what the joke is. Also nice Berserk pfp.

@@dennisbeaman958 Hm. I think if they had the counter part of Jack being her father or at least mentor figure than it would have made sense. As a random comment in the middle of a battle I thought it was just a joke. I might be wrong but I don't see how it fits in the overall narative. It could be that they are trying to say that with the rejection of the Aku Good she also rejected Aku as a father but she didn't really reject him. She was more freed by Jack's love. Again the comment would have worked if Jack was more of a father or mentor figure. I thinking about reading Berserk. I heard only good things but never got around on reading it.

So the problem isn't Jack returning to the past. It's actually a combination of two things. 1) As stated he abandoned all his allies to be killed by Aku, when it's been shown multiple times he chooses the lives of those before him. 2) By Ashi disappearing, it shows that the future where Jack was doesn't even exist as a separate timeline. This means that Jack should have abandoned the people of the future to travel to the past every time, since travelling to the past would erase the future completely. By eliminating the "Aku future" they make the entire show pointless. Every life saved and good deed done was erased.
@CarlolucaS Жыл бұрын
Yeah, alternatively he condemned everyone to literal nonexistence or you could say Jack killed all of them.
