fun facts : - li naotora was not even there in sekigahara no tatakai, but li naomasa was. He was there as commander of li clan and protector of Ieyasu's son, matsudaira tadayoshi. - shimazu clan didn't even move a bit during the sekigahara no tatakai, ishida mitsunari repeatly sent signal and messagers to ask them join the battle, even mitsunari himself asked yoshihiro to fight, but shimazu didnt even attack, until they were informed about ishida maincamp fell under kobayakawa treacherous attack. - Shimazu clan retreated from sekigahara but by making it foward (sutegamari : fighting retreat) toward ieyasu maincamp in the late battle when the western army had already beaten, shimazu attack failed to destroy ieyasu camp but able to make chaos, then fully retreated. - Shimazu Toyohisa held the rear guard of shimazu's gateway from battlefield. Shimazu's retreat attack able to wound li naomasa by rifle shot but naomasa was survived, later shimazu toyohisa died when he was surrounded by the enemy. - Shimazu didn't move a bit during sekigahara was still a study topics among historian, one of many theories is shimazu yoshihiro was felt isolated by mitsunari as his plans prior sekigahara was ignored by ishida mitsunari.

Naotora's definitely one of the hottest, but like you said, she was dead way before Sekigahara, and the anime only starts towards the end of Odawara Castle, which wasn't far from Sekigahara's time. now, if you want to see a real shame, let's all consider the fact that not only was Naomasa's getting shot by Toyohisa completely ditched and replaced, but none of the Shimazu even appear at Sekigahara, and Naomasa is instead wounded by Sakon, who was also shot. and, to top it all off, we have Hidetada. oh, dear god, do I hate Hidetada. we already knew Ieyasu was an asshole, but god DAMN do they do a good job of making him look like a saint in comparison to his shitty son. by now I've only made it up to episode 7, and Hidetada alone is slowly making me want to finish this anime less. I honestly wish Nobuyuki hadn't saved him at Ueda Castle. probably would've made Mitsunari win at Sekigahara that way, too. I'm sorry, I just went onto a completely unnecessary rant. I'll shut up now.

I love to play the Tokugawa like the Kingdom of Shu in Dynasty Warriors. One thing I love about the Tokugawa Ieyasu leads is Tadakatsu, a general who'll never be defeated by anyone in battle. If you mess with Ieyasu, Tadakatsu will devastate you and trust me, he is Ieyasu's shield of loyalty, strength and courage.

Y'all need to check out a manga called Drifters, Toyohisa Shimazu is the main character and is way more badass in it. It's about historical figures that are sent to a fantasy world that is being torn apart by a mysterious figure who gathered an army of fantasy monsters and a few other historical figures that were either evil or wronged by the world. I know it sounds geeky but its awesome. Some of the good guys, other than Toyohisa, are Nobunaga Oda, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, hell they had a WW2 Veteran pilot that died while in his plane and entered to the fantasy world in the middle of battle that had dozens of dragons in the sky, while in his plane. Only for him to rip em to shreds with bullets. I'm talking to much, whoever watched Hellsing Ultimate, you should have an idea of how much gore there will be, because its from the same author.

He also banished, killed, or deported all the people who helped him in sekigahara under the pretense that some of them were former enemies at a time in history Stepped down as shogun only to manipulate the current Shogun from the shadows. Ieyasu was a fucking asshole, probably worse than Nobunaga Oda even. But guess who writes the History books? The victors of the war, that's who.

Shingen for example rebelled against his own Father and deposed him to gain control of the Takeda, and later in his life he ordered his own son to commit suicide because he suspected he might rebel against him (sweet irony). He also had other moments of cruelty as such. Nobunaga gets painted as the worst, but all warlords of the time were a bunch of ambitious back-stabbing merciless assholes. The big crime that is always put over Nobunaga's head is the burning of the Buddhist temples of Mt Hiei which were considered a cultural treasure, despite the monks living there being a mix of religious zealots and outright bandits that had menaced Kyoto, the Shoguns and even Emperors through the years.
