I gotta say, out of all the more historically accurate redesigns, Shingen's looks absolutely badass. Thank god they stopped making him look like a fat, overweight guy and made him look like the feared samurai he really was

I also enjoy the redesign...but people get old, and bodies change. Especially if you are a Daimyo who's main obligation was giving orders. Not saying that he was no warrior, just saying that the old designs aren't farfetched.

I actually liked "overweight" Shingen, he was the older, wise mentor-like figure; he'd win with his brain, not brawn. In fact, it is more historically accurate if you look at depictions of Shingen in old painting. Now he is just another anime pretty boy; they could've made him older in SW5, at least. It's the same reason why I don't like Tadakatsu's redesign very much either.

@@BingBangPoe Paintings are one thing, but Shingen's actual armor that he wore says differently of how he was actually built around the time of his death. His armor was small, and definitely couldn't of been worn but someone who had some size around the belly. And there are paintings and statues that depict him more on the lean, muscular side. Tadakatsu's redisgn was also a lot more accurate. He was young, very young during his time under Ieyasu. And he was pretty famous for being a hot headed and loud youth

The second I saw Shingen's new design in the game, I did a little fist pump. Hell yeah. My first experience of Shingen was actually Kessen III, and dude was scary as hell (helped his level was hard as shit). This version of him actually feels intimidating and like the badass he should be. I hope we get this Shingen (I'd take most of the other redesigns too, honestly) in future entries.

Kessen 3's Shingen was perfect imo, he actually looks and acts like a seasoned war commander there, plus his stage is one of my favorites in the game. And speaking of SW5's Shingen as much as i like the general design i just wish they'd make him older because as intimidating as he is he lacks a certain intimidation factor that can only be found in older men/women
