Real title is rather "Tange Sazen Kenfû! Hyakuman ryô no tsubo" than "Tange Sazen: The Million Ryo Pot". This one is a TV movie directed by Hideo Gosha in 1982, the million Ryo pot was directed by Sadao Yamanaka in 1935.

You know, I thought you were being really pedantic at first, as this is a remake of the same film, and all the promotional materials translate it to the same English title. But there honestly is one difference, the word "kenfu", which I didn't know so I looked up how they write the title in Japanese. It's 剣風. The two characters are usually translated as "sword" and "wind". I'm not positive how this would feel to a Japanese person, but I'm guessing the title comes out to like "Sword Whirlwind", which describes Tange's fighting style. Then the rest of the title is the same, though "tsubo" could either be read as "pot" like in the '35 version, or "urn", like in Gosha's previous version from '66.

Classic. Nothing like a good dance off to start a sword and knife fight... the one armed swordsman.. Great films. Can see why Hollywood stole a lot of the plots from these movies. Cold line.. See you never. And it's good to see the woman let the twins out as a distraction in the battle.. And the final showdown... makes these timeless classics. Cheers.

Who was the original Tange Sazen from the 50-60s? My parents were huge fans.

The real original one was in the 1920s, but the first famous actor was from the 30s: Denjiro Okochi. He played Sazen for nearly 20 years.
