It's a real treat when Nakamura Tamao , Katsu's real life wife shows up in one of Katsu's works. Mori Kazuo who directed several of the early Zatoichi films directed this as well so some of the old gang is getting back together years after their early success.

The Rainbow Bridge is one of my favorite Zatoichi episodes; up there with The Winter Sea and An Unforgettable Flower. The villains are so...evil. And, Osuma's character is beautifully written and acted. The story is so well told. An episode that comes as close, as one can expect, to a happy ending for a tragic hero, like Ichi.

The lady (Okuma) is Nakamura Tamao, Katsu Shintaro's wife in real life. They have five (if I am not mistaken) children together. Katsu Shintaro also directs, produces and he even sings the theme song. These movies (monogatari) are precious. I must have watched every episode already, and still watch them over and over again. I even have the Season 1 and 2 DVDs. Thank you Samura vs Ninja for sharing these wonderful treasures. I've also watched the Musashi series, and others. Arigato gozaimasu.
