@Dungeon Keeper im not to good with waves but i belive in the movie they showed either a rogue wave or a tidal wave which are comepletly different from a tsunami, a tsunami (by just looking at it) is a normal wave at the top, but under the water it has the power to rip a submarine to shreds in seconds and bassicaly throw it around like its nothing, but when a tsunami hits land like this \ the wave travels up it like a ramp causing all that energy to go up but doesnt increase its height, that energy lets the wave just travel accross miles miles and milesss of land until it retracts back into the ocean, surviving a tsunami is simple if u know its coming, u only need to go to the 2nd story of a building that has good infrastructure and is not higher than 4-5 stories, for example most high schools are tsunami safe zones. Anyway i hope thats enough elaboration

And depending on how its formed you may not get a coastline withdraw, kind of like those very nasty shore breaks, pure lips of hell. Next is once the fist run up happens the next one and the next one is even higher, prime example is Kobe Japan. Where they had tsunami walls and control. The land dropped 60 feet. So the first wave was held back but the rest flooded the city. You should check your information and share facts before you make statements like this.

There’s little realistic or suspenseful about this scene but I still love it for the sheer visual and emotional spectacle. Details like showing the unspoken “race” between a dwindling number of boats trying to top the wave, the cargo ship getting flipped, the personal moments of random people at the end.

@@myizukai8478 a tsunami of this size could only be created by a comet impact theres only one spot on the planet that a mega tsunami has been observed and that is in Alaska from a landslide and that was because of the extremely confined area in the bay waters to create a tsunami of this magnitude you would need something extraordinarily dense in a massive weight and surface area to impact the ocean at such an angle that the wave would be focused in one direction there is an island that is theorized to have created a mega tsunami I cant recall the name but it was only due to the power of the wave not the height and again it was because of relatively confined regions and a massive massive displacement of water

In the event of a rogue wave [because realistically ships never actually encounter the tsunami wave, but there are other massive waves that occur at sea] ships are supposed to turn their bow into the wave and try to ride over it before the wave crests, meaning before it folds over. Even if it doesn't make it in time, the ship is designed to sort of cut through the wave and whatever damage it may take [that being only in the event of like, a MONSTER wave] would be nothing compared to what would happen if the wave struck broadside, which could roll the ship over.
