Go Spurs Go! Love this coverage about the Spurs. Agree I think those contracts have set us up nicely especially in 2026 trade season. Having 48 minutes of quality center play would go a long way as it seems Sochan has taken up the center minutes when Wemby is off the floor. But he’s also guarding the teams best wing player normally so it’s taking him away from the rim. If the Chicago pick conveys this year I could see a scenario where we draft a backup Center plus a quality wing and guard to backup Castle.

Paul and Barnes shouldn't be traded this year. Their presence in the starting/finishing lineup is clearly the reason why the Spurs can compete against almost all teams in NBA. Keldon with 35M$ and 2 years contract and Zach/Malaki/Blake/Barnes in the final year of their contract will be clearly easy tradable asset this summer.

Spurs have improved this year but still lacking a consistant rebounder and a 3 and D on perimeter

I'm not concerned on the 3/D aspect, Castle is developing, Champagnie is among the league leaders for catching and shooting % plus adds defense, Sochan and Vassell still have room for improvement as well. Adding all the draft stock and this should be addressed organically. Rebounding and a very good backup defensive anchor are most needed. I'd also say, maintaining cap flexibility for the next 2 years is important so unless it's an all NBA caliber player, it's not smart to cash in the assets and strap ourselves for cash when the Sochan/Wemby extensions start hitting.

Fox wouldn't the missing piece for Wemby. He needs Ball on the hand & sucks on setting bigs. I would rather trade for Cam Johnson. He can spread the floor very well. By the way, CP3 already knows how to ball with this guy. Lonzo Ball is another lowkey choice with better D & court version passing. Bulls only want several 2nd picks back. We also have their future 1rd pick. Maybe we go lucky, We will have : Ball-Castle-Cam-Sochan-Wemby for start5. And CP3 on the coach seat with Popo.

Don't get me wrong I like the parameters of a Fox trade. The two issues I see would be contract extension for him, not sure on that. The other and would be a little interesting is what would you do with Paul, and by extension what you are saying is that Castle is not your point for the future so to speak. I am not sure I would do it, but I can see the question as to why this trade would be done

The problem for Spurs is perimeter defense. They allow too many easy 3s and offense rebound from opponent. They need SGA type guard not Fox type.

Spurs lack experience. Sochan, Wemby, Castle are like 20? Vassell and Champagnie just turned 24 and 23. They just need another 1 or 2 seasons to marinate, just like WEMBY. To much depth and draft capital flexibility to give up already. If anything let players at the end of the bench fall off and replace with seasoned playoff veterans which would be way cheaper. Sabonis is a good 3PT shooter too which helps space the floor and he’s a great passing big man that would Wemby get buckets too. The only thing that would make sense is vassel + the hawks picks and some second rounders for trae young. Nobody wants to trade for the trash spurs players and vassel doesn't fit with wemby. Win win win situation, spurs can use CP3 to its maximum for their play-in and potential two POs rounds, hawks maintain their playoffs spot and rebuild around a future allstar player.
