I’ve lived in SA my whole life, it has crime like any large city but the people are nice and help each other when the need arises. Doesn’t matter what side of town you’re from. They have torn down a lot of the projects, or “courts” we call them. Like the Victoria Courts that were downtown & the Alazan-Apache courts that were just west of downtown off Guadalupe St. I’m glad you came through. Thank you.

My condolences . I'm from the hood as well . Didn't know that story. When I was at Rhodes middle school a classmates was murdered. Her name is Rachel Gutierrez. Her sister and her lived in the projects across the street from Rhodes middle school. Google her name... you'll find a copy of the court document and you'll read the horrifying event that took place there on one summer night i believe. Her brother in law was the murderer and was executed by lethal injection. But, the beautiful young girl and her sister had a horrible death. We were in school when they told us the news. Some students went to the funeral. I didn't want to go I wanted to remember her as the beautiful girl she was. I was in 7th grade, she was in 8th grade. God bless you always. Peace and respect Rip Rachel Gutierrez gone but not forgotten.

Я так понимаю это спальные районы для рабочих ? В принципе не так всё и плохо но это на мой взгляд как человека который там не живёт я из России. Ещё раз спасибо чарли что снимаешь такое видео очень интересно =) I understand that these are residential areas for workers ? In principle, everything is not so bad, but in my opinion, as a person who does not live there, I am from Russia. Thank you again Charlie for making such a video very interesting =)

There is actually a three to four year waiting list to get into these housing (section 8)projects. People want these because it's practically free and they pay little to nothing for these. They have to show proof they have low income, family size, not supposed to have a criminal record 🤔. Other apartment complexes (varies)around town take section 8 (low income housing) but they seem more strict in who they take in and charge a little more than the projects/courts would.

I wonder why poor neighborhoods so often have narrow-ass streets. Here in San Antonio housing projects are commonly called "courts." Some were razed long ago. I recognized Alazan-Apache Courts and San Juan Homes among the others here. The driver in this video ran stop signs and sped throughout the video. Was the driver scared to stop the vehicle for a bit? That driver is lucky no cop saw these traffic violations or that driver would have had to stop longer than a bit. I wish the driver had captured the signs identifying the courts or stilled the vehicle long enough for us to see all the street signs.

It actually looked like he went by the Cassiano's( Cassiano Homes) and the Lincoln Courts. The Cassiano's have those picture ( murals) on the side. The former San Juan homes used to have the same murals when they were considered solely public housing. Today as you probably now the San Juan's have been completely changed. They are low income with some mixed( market rate priced apts). I actually live in the Alazans part. I am grateful for my own apt but I am praying for the day I can get into an apt that has central air. Right now I have a small window unit for a open efficiency apt. The ventilation does not allow my apt to cool enough. You pretty much have to sit right in front of the window unit.
@darrenstansbury44333 жыл бұрын
@@Veronica.MedellinTX I have lived in a place without central heat and air and insulation. So, I can relate. The outlets in the apartment I lived in for 9 years needed modifying to allow space heaters to plug into them. Running a space heater while it's plugged into an extension cord or power strip can cause a fire. So, I went without space heaters during the cold weather and layered up in bed and in the living room, where I would see vapor when exhaling. The apartment was half of a home that had been converted into a duplex with a rear apartment that was originally the maids quarters. The apartment home was in the downtown area Five Points neighborhood, on a street across the underside of the I-35 N overpass from Fox Tech. I lived on the street alongside the royal blue Finesilver building that's visible from near the I-10 E/I-35 N junction. The home was built, I believe, in the 1920s. Here's an article about Five Points: sanantonioreport.org/where-i-live-five-points/

Who remembers wheatley courts on the eastside? Those were easily the worst projects in the entire city. They tore it down since then and it's a mixed income apartment complex now. It's crazy how that side of town has been going through a lot of gentrification. You go through the eastside and you'll see brand spanking new homes in what used to be empty lots. Seems like the west side is undergoing the same thing now.
