Took a short 360 video of one of the seca yard here in San Carlos Sonora Mexico. Many abandoned boats owing storage fees and lots for sale. Most are in need of major tlc or a refit and some are too far gone and only good for salvage. An abandoned vessel could have document issues.
Visit: cortezyachtsales.com/ and you will find many vessels for sale with documentation that can be processed as well as boats that can be splashed very quickly to project vessels worth putting time and money in to. I have new listings for sloops and ketches under 30 ft and $20k. A great Cheoy Lee 36 that is beautiful and a bargain.
Be cautious of private sales and gypsy brokers, as in Mexico bad documentations such as multiple Temporary Import Permits or that are expired, passed on with questionable Captain's letters etc. can get your vessel seized by the Mex Navy or worse.

There are only about 30-40 sailboats that are in the abandoned book, and guessing about double that on their way if they don't get saved or sold. The balance of the boats are maintained and splashed every season for five or six months of cruising. The thing about most of the boat here is that they made it via the Pacific and up in to the sea; no rope rode and Danforth anchor on the bow. It's the summer heat and sun that damages the gelcoat and teak and rarely water damage unless their is a leaking hatch or plugged drains etc. I've started several diesels (second try) that have sat for seven or more years. Very dry here and that is the reason they store aircraft in the desert. All that said, a project boat is a bad idea unless you are very handy at everything. It's better to spend $20k more up front and be cruising, then buying a project boat and spending another $20k and living in a work yard for months or years.

I would like to travel there to look some of these boats. I have a boat now but my boat is mast less due to hurricane Dorian hitting us in The Bahamas. So I need a boat with a mast.

These sailboat graveyards are everywhere often barely and rarely used boats. Think twice before you buy a boat. You will likely be paying for years of storage on a boat you will rarely use.

Personally, I think the only reason to own a large boat is to live aboard and travel....which I did back in the 70's-80's. -Veteran '66-68

That goes for pretty much any hobby equipment. "Activities", other than pampered globetrotting via air or cruise ships, are dying out. I'd say genX will be the last demographic to have boats, hobby cars, etc. There will be a few in the newer generations, but not at the levels of the past.

I don't remember any, but there were a couple Westsails. A woman had a Cheoy Lee for sale at Gabriel's yard in Guaymas, but the interior was toast. It had a lot of good equipment, such as engine, watermaker, genset etc.
Paid $57,000, 5 months later valued at $225,000!
