Great job on this. Awesome. Thorough. In the dark period of my life that I was forced to live in wretched California, my 4 favorites N to S were Newport/Corona, Oceanside, San Clemente and Black's (note, piers at all but Black's). You did a great job of capturing what enjoyment I summoned there. (BTW additional tweaks I expected, but not critcizing, were a fast motion full jaunt down the pier and back, and a peek inside the restaurant. Though I escaped SoCal long ago I wonder if the restaurant changed. I remember a tasty maybe smoky fish there - maybe it was ahi or Mahi Mahi)
@Bill_Woo4 жыл бұрын
Ha ha!! I wrote that before the last 10 seconds of the video. It shows that you've already done Oceanside and La Jolla, making 3 of my top 4 !! I like to think, "great minds..." :) :) I expect you've also hit or will hit Malibu/Venice, thus giving us one million *and one* walking videos of those to check out now, lol. No, seriously, if you did one on those, you'd have practical and useful details that elude the other guys who video it :)

What top 2 or 3 California coastal towns would you live in if you didn't have to commute? Some with money no object and some where there are reasonable prices if there are any with reasonable housing costs anymore. I don't get how people can afford to buy in so much of CA because the wages from what I can tell don't allow you to pay for the costs of the houses. The median price of a house is about 9-10 times the median household income. It's a shame they built the I-5 so close to the ocean. I can imagine living there or any Califorinia coastal town in 1930 through 60s. It probably was cheap through the 50's at least.

I am walking with a walker sometimes a cane. We don't know if I will walk normally again. I cant walk for very long. How far is the parking lot to the beach? You have a talent for catching small details that can be huge in enjoyment vs. disappointment, for example covering the bathroom availability at Trestles. You also covered parking, but it sounds like $1.50/hour is almost given. Crap!! Very long ago I seem to remember finding free on the street... Hey, if any municipalities see this, be aware that I will forego getting out of my car or coming at all and spending $100 on your economy if I'm forced to pay $10 for parking. I hate parking costs so much that I'll walk 6 blocks in a suit to pay paltry meter rates or avoid the cost entirely. Look, charge a chunk for the closest prime parking; that ensures that spaces are available for those who don't care about the cost; they just want to be close. That's fine. On many occasions I even take that option myself. But if I'm willing to walk a ways, and pay $3 or less, you need to make that happen. If my only option is to pay $12 or $15, I'll summarily leave and drive down to your competitors. So will many other people, even though we're coming to spend $$ at a restaurant or shop. We shouldn't pay you to spend money there. It's a pretty firm rule. If you want tourists, don't design making revenue from parking. Mmmkay?! Fer Chrissakes, I've never paid a penny to park at major city Gallerias, though in expensive parts of towns. Sorry, got carried away, Chris :) That's intended for the places and attractions that scratch their heads and wonder why I and others don't come there :(
@YellowProductions4 жыл бұрын
Hah.. me too Bill. Thats the problem with OC beaches.. I think people here are just used to paying to park. In San Diego where I was raised.. we are also insulted by beach parking fees

Curious, does anyone feel icky about being at the ocean nearby to a nuclear power plant, right there up the beach? And even if you get past the notion of radiation, and assume that it's fully and constantly monitored, doesn't the innate superheating of water at such plants produce a lot of dead rotting fish? Just wondering, not saying that any of that is the actual case.
