SAN DIEGO IMPERIAL VALLEY RAILROAD ON MTS ORANGE LINE

Welcome back to another SDRAIL PRODUCTIONS film of the San Diego imperial valley (SDIV) preparing to leave from the San Diego Imperial Valley Railroad yard. SDIV NRE 3GS21B or Genset 701 on point brings 2 covered Hoppers out to El Cajon, CA I'll be catching them in various trolley stations such as Spring Street trolley station and El Cajon CA, and on the way back at La Mesa CA. I like really like that too and on some parts down the line they use there own track because the trolley goes up steep bridges.

Do you know on what days this one runs and at what times? I've always wanted to see it running down Commercial Street.

They usually leave around 11:45pm and head east on Sunday/Monday and Thursday/Friday

I live by the Amaya station and we hear it come through around 1-3ish AM on Sunday going into Monday. I always thought it was heading east to El Cajon but a week or two ago I wanted to actually see it. It was heading pretty fast from El Cajon toward downtown and only had two cars or three cars attached. Does the schedule change around a bit/do you have more info on why I don't hear it heading east but hear it heading west? Thank you!

Yes they went run on certain day If needed; they only have a few company's down this route and have certain time to leave

It is so frustrating for me to try and film these trains. I know when they usually come but even that's confusing. I wait in El Cajon at the Arnele Ave station and I get so mad sometimes because I get told by MTS people very high up that there will be a frieght train in El Cajon Sunday night, only for me to stand out there until 2am and nothing shows up. I do not like that. They only serve one company now and I'm trying to hurry and get my videos of the train in 2022 before that's it. I even called SDIV several times and they never answer.

As far as I know SDIV still operates two industries in El Cajon, every so often I find boxcars at the paper plant, this week this train came on a different day and my only assumption is because of other duties

As for the bridges that cross Jackson Dr near Fletcher Pkway in La Mesa and Main St near I-8 in El Cajon, they aren’t really built for trains like the ones in this video, those bridges might degrade since those bridges are only meant for light rail just like any bridge the green line trolleys cross
