I'm a volunteer at the Safari Park. No need to take water, just take a good, insulated water bottle and you can have it refilled at any location that sells food/drinks. Make sure to take off the lid before you hand it to the server and you'll get it back filled with water, and ice if you prefer! I mentioned this to a woman who had 4 2-liter bottles of water strapped to her backpack and she didn't know this. Also, if you need help navigating to a particular animal, area, restaurant, or even the closest rest room, just ask a volunteer in their red shirt, khaki bottoms, and name tag. They'll be happy to assist you! Lost your map? Most volunteers carry spares!

Hi friend. Does someone speak Spanish at the Safari Park?

@@randygarcia6824 Many of our volunteers speak Spanish, know relevant Spanish phrases, or have Spanish phrase sheets. The Safari Park offers Spanish lessons to volunteers. There are undoubtedly some Staff that also speak Spanish.

I used to buy annual memberships to the SD Zoo & the Safari Park every year. Every year until Covid hit & the prices of membership went up. I would casually go there every once in a while to eat lunch or just to take a stroll. I love going there in the summer time at night. I used to take my nieces & nephews all the time until they grew up & became “too cool” to hangout with their uncle lol. I even treated them to the “Roar & Snore” event in the summer where you get to camp out on the premises. I was born & raised in SD so the Zoo & Safari Park have always been a huge part of my life. I highly recommend visiting BOTH zoo’s if you haven’t already. To me, the SD Zoo & SD Safari Park are “the happiest places in earth.” Not Disneyland. Animal conservation is way more important than animal cartoonization & exploitation 👍🏾👍🏾
@Voyagerhq2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t realize you could have a lifetime membership, that’s awesome. Your nieces and nephews were very fortunate to have those experiences. The Zoo is an ideal place to teach kids about nature. I bring my kids for that reason and every time without fail they ask for Cotton Candy as soon as we arrive.
@Fotosynthesis8582 жыл бұрын
@@Voyagerhq Thanks for spotting my error. I meant to say “annual membership.” But back then (like 10 years ago) my annual memberships only costed like $40. Now the same membership is like triple that price. I haven’t bought a membership since the year Covid hit 😕 But I can’t wait to go back asap✌🏾

A couple changes coming from a current employee: You can no longer feed giraffes and rhinos on the wildlife safari caravan since covid. I don't see them brining this back tbh. There is also no cheetah run offered unless its for specific events so don't plan to see that in your day. Bats and Lorikeets are closed until further notice (they've been closed for a couple months now) Butterfly Jungle requires a ticket for everyone 0+ in age, and they are also $15 a piece.

There are so many incredible animals at the Safari Park. It was unexpected and intriguing to learn about the animals of Walkabout Australia. The Platypus and Cassowary seem otherworldly and you should see them in person. It would be great to visit again in the future and perhaps film one of the Safari Tours. We're planning to visit more places in California, let us know if you have any locations you'd like to see!

gosh, all the attractions and tours within the Safari Park cost extra. So if you wanna do everything in one day, would the total cost come out to $500 or something? Examples include: Wildlife Safari $89, Behind-the-Scenes Safari $89, Cart Safari $55, Sun Up Cheetah $99, Flightline $77. That's on top of the $65 admission ticket and the $15 parking.........
@Voyagerhq2 жыл бұрын
You’re right, doing everything would add up to a lot. I think it’s because you’ll have a personal tour guide spending a couple hours taking you around and meeting animals. I haven’t been on any yet and still had plenty to do. Hopefully one day!

We went there yesterday 9/24/22 and we were a little disappointed. We got there early at opening and we spent a lot of time walking to exhibits that were empty. It was about 90 degrees and we kept getting told that the animals probably weren't coming out because of the heat, but isn't it hot in Africa ? The place is so big that all of that walking through empty exhibits ate up a lot of precious time. I wish that there was some kind of real time map that you could access on your phone so that you could go directly to the exhibits that actually have animals and avoid the ones that don't..

I have never been to the Safari Park in San Diego. If we walk on some of these trails, are there animals that are free and can have a chance of coming up to us?
@Voyagerhq2 жыл бұрын
There is a kids petting zoo where you can interact with goats and sheep. All other animals in the park are in enclosures. I haven’t been on one of the private Safari Tours but it looks like there are opportunities to feed animals like Giraffes.
@LaurenDeLuna2 жыл бұрын
For the safari park, Walkabout Australia you have a chance of kangaroos and wallabies coming up to you but they usually keep to themselves. Same with Petting Kraal. Wildlife Safari trucks go out into the africa Plains fields and you have a chance there but since there is no feeding the animals they don't usually approach. However there are a LOT of free roaming water birds in the park and they might come say hi 😂
@Kartzchen Жыл бұрын
So, you pay for admission. Then, pay again for the tram trips? And, need to pay for parking? So, it's 100-150$ per adult admission when including admission, parking, and then tram? Why wouldn't there just be one flat rate. This seems intimidating. I find myself not wanting to visit because there is no straight forward pricing on this experience.
@Voyagerhq Жыл бұрын
The Africa tram is included with admission. The Safaris are extra. The $20 parking isn’t great. The best value is the yearly membership if you can manage to visit a few times. If you’re looking to see a lot of animals in a short time you might prefer the Zoo. 🙂
@Kartzchen Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your reply. The parking is $20 now, it was 12$. I have membership for both Zoo and Safari. The Zoo is amazing, it's a truly wonderful botanical garden with plenty of great enclosures. Whereas, The Safari Park, not impressed with this strange situation that gets people out in the middle of nowhere then continues to charge people. It sounds like a beautiful experience perhaps, but just not an honest feeling. Slightly sketchy since a person is being charged for parking in the middle of nowhere a place where parking isn't limited. Then, add charges for this tram so you might get to see something.. I'd pay an extra $30 each year on my membership just to have my parking free included at Safari, and not feel like I'm getting a shakedown. Next, are there paid restrooms? Or, are they still considered free?
@Voyagerhq Жыл бұрын
There is such an upgrade to the yearly membership for $30 or so to cover all parking costs. I recently did a comparison video about each park that covers many of the similarities and differences between each park.
