I had the Spotify going on a random shuffle and this came up, wasn't necessarily drawn to the entire song as a whole. But damn if that woman can't sing, came back to admire that chorus for sure. And the rest of accompaniment is awesome! Trumpets and all.

I found me a hopeless case, and resolved to love Maybe we can find a decent place when I'm old enough Found love in an empty gaze, tried to fix it up I found me a hopeless case, oh, oh I'll fall for you soon enough, I've resolve to love Now I know it's just another fuck cause I'm old enough Sell lies like they're only drugs, here to pick me up I'll fall for you soon enough, oh, oh Oh, don't be scared But it's a harder kind of fear (Hold on tight) You best hold on or else you're in it (Clear your mind) And when you think you're thinking clearly (It's alright) You're really tied up and committed (Oh I'm just saying) But it's an awful lot of talk (It's not a fight) For a fire that burns too quickly (You have to not be scared) Why do you want to hurt at all? (You're alright) For someone's summer kind of sickness All dressed in my Sunday best, when I solve you, love Maybe find a place where we could rest when we're old enough We can have a dog and all the rest, we can live it up All dressed in our Sunday best, oho, oho Sonsick at the tee-ball games, I absolve your, love Maybe find a place and think of names, when we're old enough Make plans and we'll buy new things, try to fix it up Sonsick at the tee-ball games, oh, oh Oh, don't be scared But it's a harder kind of fear (Hold on tight) You best hold on or else you're in it (Clear your mind) And when you think you're thinking clearly (It's alright) You're really tied up and committed (Oh I'm just saying) But it's an awful lot of talk (It's not a fight) For a fire that burns too quickly (You have to not be scared) Why do you want to hurt at all? (You're alright) For someone's summer kind of sickness It is a summer kind of sickness It is a summer kind of sickness Summer kind of sickness Oh, don't be scared But it's a harder kind of fear (Hold on tight) You best hold on or else you're in it (Clear your mind) And when you think you're thinking clearly (It's alright) You're really tied up and committed (Oh I'm just saying) But it's an awful lot of talk (It's not a fight) For a fire that burns too quickly (You have to not be scared) Why do you want to hurt at all? (You're alright) For someone's summer kind of sickness It is a summer kind of sickness It is a summer kind of sickness Summer kind of sickness I'll fall for you soon enough I've resolved to love

Stunning - STUNNING. I kind of accidentally saw a concert, I don't usually see music live, and was totally swept away. This song was like a party in my heart.

Hey, could you kindly explain this to me. That is how I heard this song and I am forever grateful. It's a very long way from hearing this on mainstream radio, at least in my town. Left of Center, which morphed into XMU, has been an amazing source of music for me.

@@Omnibushido- that's the beautiful thing about art, it can mean so many different things to different people! i wrote this comment when i was a closeted high schooler trying to force myself to be attracted to a boy in my class. i didn't mean to insinuate that my interpretation was the only interpretation, or even that the artist thought about lesbians at all while writing this song! i just meant that this interpretation was the interpretation that spoke to me at the time, and i was hoping to find other people who connected with the song in the same way i connected with it.

I'm just saying its good yes but I've listened closely to the lyrics and still don't understand them lol some 1 help me out?
@badflamer7 жыл бұрын
the lyrics don;t make it sound at all like a father sad that he got a daughter. Listen closer, it sounds like a woman who fell for with a bad boy she thought she could 'fix' (fell in love with an empty gaze, tried to fix it up) and got knocked up after what was presumably meant to be a one-night stand, at least on his side (Ill fall for you soon enough, i've resolved to love, now i know it;s just another fuck, cuz i'm old enough). and now she is feeling trapped and resentful of her status as wife and mother (sonsick at the t-ball games), and there are other numerous references to a dream of a happily ever after that is met with the cold reality of a decaying relationship (all dressed in my sunday best when i solved your love/ sonsick at the t-ball games, i absolve your love, maybe find a place where we could rest when we're old enough/ maybe find a place and think of things when we're old enough, we could have a dog and all the rest, we could live it up/ make plans and we'll buy new things, try to fix it up). Part of the chorus also reinforces this narrative of being unastisfied with one's family life (when you think you;re thinking clear, you're really tired of being committed) Depending on how one interprets certain parts of the chorus (I'm just sayin, it's an awful lot of fight, for a fire that burns too quickly, why do you want to hurt at all, for someone's summer kind of sickness) it can either indicate that the mother is feeling like she isn't happy, but isn't willing to go through the painful and extensive process of breaking up the family (an awful lot of fight) just to chase her momentary desires for personal freedom (a fire that burns too quickly). It could also indicate that the mother is currently being tempted by another lover who wants her to elope with them (another possible interpretation for 'fire that burns too quickly', which pairs well with 'summer kind of sickness' since a fleeting romance is often called a 'summer fling'). by my analysis, it also seems like the 'I'll fall for you soon enough, I've resolved to love' that the song goes out on is not addressed to the husband, as it was earlier in the song, but rather this time to the mother;s child. After all, while the child may be the biggest reason why the mother feels trapped in a loveless marriage (remember, she already absolved the father/husband of his duty to love earlier in the song), she recognizes that this is not the child's fault and resolves to try and show it the care it needs, all in spite of how she finds herself wishing for freedom when watching their t-ball games. Also, there is just as much a stereotype of 'daddy's girl' as there is a stereotype of strong father-son relationships, so your initial premise is pretty flawed to begin with, as evidenced by your own anecdotal reportings later in your reply.

Hey wow I'm super late but I can't help but leave my own response. I'm not going to go off of the official video because sometimes the videos can have nothing to do with the actual lyrics. I think it's important to find your own meanings to songs. Me, as someone who is a hopeless romantic and falls in love far too easily, I think that's what this song could be about. You know they just want sex from you, and they don't take your relationship seriously, yet you can't help but lay in bed at night and imagine this amazing fairy-tale type future together. The picket fence, the dog, taking your kid to their sports games. Deep down in your heart you know it's not love and you will get hurt, it's only another fuck, but you catch feelings anyway because you want so deeply to find love that you just fool yourself. You think you're thinking clear, but really your judgement is just clouded by that desperate need to be loved and to find love. A classic case of your heart clouding your mind. Like I said, it's important to find your own meaning in the lyrics, which is what I did. A lot of artists, when asked about the meanings to their songs, often say they leave it open to interpretation or they don't even know what they meant. I also think that how you choose to interpret the lyrics depends on who you are, and how you're feeling when you listen to it. A lot of the time, there is no right or wrong answer. *Please don't flame me, I never claimed any of this was fact so don't take it as such ^^*
