San Francisco Drive to Treasure Island 4K

I went to Electronics Technician "A" School, Advanced Electronics Technician "B" School, Taught at "B" School for 4 years, and still resided in Navy Housing on the Island while attending ADCOP at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, 1968 - 1975. CWO4 USN Ret.

New roads, FF School gone, Gas Chamber Gone, Barracks Gone, "A" Schools Gone, Park is Gone, the Running Track is Gone, Chow Hall is Gone, NEX is Gone, Piers are Gone, Buttercup was Decommissioned, 49s Stadium is Gone, New Bridge installed, Gate Entry and Exit is Gone, Most of the Trees are Gone The Sun is Huge, The Skyline is Beautiful, CMD Officer / Admin Building is still intact, Better Roads, The Palm Trees that were there looked to have survived, base is wider, the stones look to be the same as well But it has lost its Military Appearance, and by doing so, it does not even look familiar. They call this progress, but I miss the Island Living however brief it was The Navy gave a section of the Base to the CG. Then it was Decommissioned I wish I was given more time to Myself, with more photos of this place, it was My Mistake. A role of My film was left behind, I should have gone back before catching a cab to the Airport. Thank You for the Tour.

Almost all Military, Navy and CG is Gina. Just a few remnant that are most likely going soon too.

@@ksvagabond If they keep just one BLDG, I hope it would be the Headquarters. I never went into that BLDG. It would be interesting to take a few photos. More personal than anything. A walk around the Base would be closure, I guess. Are You familiar with the old barracks that were torn down? The "Chow Hall" was right next to it. I only ask because I would run late, run out of the barracks, and less than 20 yards, I would grab breakfast, and it was always busy. The barracks always had electrical problems, a fire alarm that never shut up, and COLD SHOWERS. But it was home for 4 months. I tried to locate the areas as You were driving, but the changes that took place were far too many. Just an interesting memory of My time on TI. Knowing now, what I didn't know back then, I would have taken more time to finish the self-paced "A" School and taken orders to stay on the West Coast. I eventually had a chance to return to Cali, so I moved to SD. Sadly, the Navy had Decommissioned all of the Navy Bases in the Bay Area. I rode the BART to see the band The FIRM, and it takes Me Back to riding the Transit Bus through not so nice areas. I am getting nostalgic, but it was a time that was Very Good to Me. Once again, Thank You for the tour. One other question though, is the CG Base by the Golden Gate still there? That was a postage size Base, but they seemed to be happy living on it.

@FoolsAmongUs Honestly, it sounds like you know more than I do. :) I remember going to these places when I was young, but I don't remember too much about the details. Now, when I drive around, I'm just taking in the sights and trying to learn from people like you and by talking to locals.
