11:38 ...and tragically go the way of so many other historically significant pipe organs, eventually lost to fire, floods, vandals or Wolverhampton City council.

When will the people in San Francisco wake up and come to their senses. They have an irreplaceable treasure. Atlantic City seems to finally have the right people in the right places to make their restoration project happen. This organ needs to play again, and San Francisco seems like the kind of place where it could be really successful.

It cost 7.7 million dollars in 1964 and three years to rebuild the palace of fine arts. There is a 1.5 billion dollar project going into Treasure island right now with lots of empty space available. It seems logical that bringing back Festival Hall, Pacifica, Elephant Towers, and The Tower of The Sun to the island for the centennial celebration would be a true historical investment

Hard to believe that the City of San Francisco is letting this fine organ just sit in storage. The video shows our civic organ here in San Diego. It was installed 101 years ago at our exposition that ran for two years. The organ is an outdoor one that has been in the same spot since its installation. There was talk at one time of getting rid of it, but lucky our city did not do so. It is considered a treasure and is the largest outdoor organ in the world. I do hope the citizens of San Francisco do not let that fine instrument continue to go unused or sent off to be installed elsewhere.

Barney Evans - it's probably that usual "out with the old, in with the new" mentality. SF did this to the Fox Theater in 1963 and that was one of the five great Fox Theater in the US (Along with Brooklyn, Detroit, St. Louis, and Atlanta).

St. Louis and I think Detroit still has their Fox theatres with their organs.

If anyone loves big organs, it's San Francisco! The future is in your hands...

San Francisco has lost so many organs besides the Austin...four Wurlitzer Theatre 0rgans, and a Robert Morton instrument. Fox; Grenada, later Paramount; Warfield; Golden Gate; California; and Orpheum Theatres all housed these fine examples theatre organ technology. The Fox, Paramount, and California houses are long gone...the remaining theatres stripped of the instruments...the "Progressive City that Knows How"...[LOL]!

This is what happens when you let stupid politics get in the way of things. Austin should have ignored the politicians and went on with the restoration and stood up for the American Guild of Organists.
