They should stock zero inventory. They may not be able to save money on rent, that doesn’t mean they need to continue to incur inventory losses, just because they force you to stay open, doesn’t mean they can force you to stay stocked. Just pay one manager to open the door at 8AM and then it close at 9AM, fire the rest of the staff and never order new inventory. This is an absolute outrage. Sometimes the only way to deal with spiteful people is with spite.

As a grocery store chain, I would close all my shops in the city as reaction.- Keeping them open for 15 minutes a day for the next 6 months. To obey the text of the law. And keeping them stocked to minimum capacity, the while downsizing the number of articles.

The fact that the *supervisor of the district* calls the grocery store's actions unreasonable and demand they stay open prove just how uninvolved and out-of-touch these suits are with both the people that elect them to serve them as well as their own areas that they're supposed to know everything about and take action to solve problems in. Do you think HE shops there? Nah. Every dinner he has is at the taxpayer's expense at a fancy restaurant, away from any and all real-life crises. The closure of the store was due to the complete neglect of responsibility by those in power. It was plagued by rampant thefts and frequented by scum that threatened the lives of the employees, but at least they'll no longer have to deal with it. That won't work either as people will a) Claim they never got their goods, b) say their goods were delivered but got stolen, or c) their goods were damaged and/or tainted when opened. Stealing from on-line sellers is actually easier thanks to the policies of ebay and places like amazon. @@thezardzone6557 You missed what I said, my idea would turn high theft stores into curbside pickup locations only ( order fulfillment center), prohibiting the pubic from entering the building or where the products are stored. The employees will put the orders together then either take them to the customer's car or to a lobby where the customer can pick it up after paying online for it. This is basically separating the customer from the store's inventory.

Also the stores should be given tax incentives to stay open and they need to turn themselves into a free membership store with photo ID and add a sem-permanent police presence. If you get caught stealing or using some else's ID you lose the membership and become barred from the store for set time frame (e.g. 1st time 1 week, 2nd time 1 month, 3rd time 3 months, 4th time 1 year).

Easy fix: Don't announce a closure, cancel all resupply, ship out all surviving product, help relocate all employees out of state, stop paying on the lease, do not renew the lease, shut down all utilities, remove any fixtures you wish to save or sell them off. Once you've gutted the store, leave the doors unlocked, and walk away. But do NOT announce a closure.

And even, if there is a tax the owner can just give up the store to the IRS to cover it. Then the state can force the IRS to keep the store open. I would pay to see that legal case.

I believe that San Fransisco should sue homeowners whose cars and houses are robbed because they did not make them " thief proof." The money that they receive from these lawsuits could be given to thieves. Maybe if the thieves get enough money this way, they will slack off on their stealing. Where I use to live in New Jersey grocery stores installed steel fences to block grocery carts from freely exiting. They have security at the doors and one main exit. They have to do it to survive. Customers must drive up to load groceries into cars.
