On July 9th, 1988 the San Francisco Giants played one of their best offensive games in SF franchise history when they beat the defending NL champion St. Louis Cardinals 21-2 at Candlestick Park. This video includes highlights from that game. Chris Speier, who was playing for an injured Robby Thompson, stepped in and hit for the cycle for the second time in his career (his first with the Giants). Ernest Riles, who came in midway during the game for Jose Uribe, shocked everyone by hitting the SF Giants' 10,000th home run in franchise history. A great look back at the late 80's Giants and the unforgettable place we know as Candlestick Park. Clips include flying hot dog wrappers, 20th Century Fox Fanfare, screaming ball on the scoreboard, Rifleman fanfare, people chasing after home runs beyond the fence and some smooth fielding by the late, great Jose Uribe. It's a fabulous 20 minute look back in time. Audio is from KNBR. Ron Fairly and Wayne Hagin make the call. Video is off the Cardinal broadcast via a satellite dish. Not sure if this game was broadcast locally on Giantvision so this may be the first time seen by Giant fans. Let me know if you were there and what it was like. Enjoy!
