I just hope posey won't come in and do the same thing like zedi try to save money and get cheap help. Look at the dodgers from there farm team to the starting players and coaches are all prime players This is how you have to think always want the best!! You represent the history of that Team and the players. So go get those players not one but go for all.

The initial Farhan signing was interesting with his former connections with the Dodgers and the A's. Once he hired Kapler, I was less enthused, but did enjoy their 107 win season in 2021 very much. Now for 3 years they have been just mediocre and around .500 every year. Just not good enough for a proud franchise. Melvin wasn't great but if the Giants could and should have scored many more runs, he would have had far fewer pitching decisions to make.in the later innings. If they could have hit even decently in the clutch all year, they would at least have been in playoff contention. That part will have to change or otherwise we're doomed for another lost season. I hate to blame Pat Burrell, but we was the hitting coach for this sad lineup.

This second part of the season I thought firing Zaidi now would be a bad idea. I think they should have fired him after 2023. That said hiring Posey might be the only move they could make that can have some shot of success without taking a step back in 2025. I think Posey might be able to get a top FA signed and we saw that with him getting involved with Chapman. At least in the short term this is a great PR move for the Giants and I think it could be a the best move in a decade if it works out.

Posey's beloved by fans, and Zaidi's bad results weren't solely why he's gone. Zaidi's defining moment was creating a culture of collapse, in 2nd halves, when games mattered most for 2 straight yrs along with injuries, uncertainty, underperformance of vets, bad defense, no fundamentals and not putting ball in play. Next Yr, maybe Melvin plays hitters who see the ball well vs certain pitcher(s) and plays them at 1-spot. If Melvin believes wOBA, then Giant hitters did great but analytics aren't significant.

I love Buster, but he is not in the class of #24 or even McCovey. I have been a Giants fan since 1958, and he's up there, but I apologize; I don't see him in the Giants' pantheon. As for being in his new position, I agree with you. This is huge news, and he brings an enormous amount of upside that hopefully will permeate the organization.

You're a top FA player sitting at a table looking to sign a long term contract. You have two teams one has Zaidi & Kapler sitting across from you and the other team has Posey & Melvin sitting across the table from you. All other things being equal who are you going to go with? I think sitting across from Zaidi and Kapler cost the FA signings.

Jorge Soler was a disaster signing. The Farnhan Era has been terrible with respect to the Giants being an appealing destination (guys getting called up and sent back to minors, no FAs, etc) . Worse was the general frustration of mediocrity and passive baseball. Buster Posey is a big improvement for morale.

Does this mean SF is now attractive to FA's? Was Zaidi the reason nobody wanted to play in SF? I don't think so. That said, I think we needed a change. We desperately need 2-3 homegrown players to emerge as solid everyday players. Until that happens all we are gonna get 30+ year olds looking for last big contracts. I got my fingers crossed. Hoping for the best!

Before everyone gets all excited about the Giants signing a superstar to a billion dollar contract, who is going to bat before and after that player? You can't just have one guy with a big bat show up and expect a championship. Look at the Yanks, they have Judge/Soto/Stanton - 3 power hitters. SF hasn't had a 30 HR guy in 20 years!! Without some big backup, one superstar would die on the vine in SF. Therefore, why would someone like Soto want to come to SF? Did you see Carlos Correa's numbers for 2024? 86 Games, 99 hits, 14 HR 54 RBI. Those are Yaz and Conforto numbers. Imagine paying Correa 35 mil/yr for that, if he had played in SF. Be real!!
