2000...Even this KRON Production is rapidly becoming history itself! 20 years!
@bayarea90s-tv464 жыл бұрын
@Larry Boysen . . . With Nexstar the current owner of KRON, Bay Area viewers will never see locally produced documentaries like this anymore. Documentaries cost money to produce, which goes against the business model of Nexstar, as that entity is strictly a advertising revenue generating corporation. For those that are KRON viewers, you may have notice the advertising commercials are taking up more of the TV programming hours than with prior owner(s).

KRON's decade documentaries were amazing!

I agree! But such an era will never be repeated at KRON as long as Nexstar owns the station; as that company is notorious for its frugality. If you are a current viewer of KRON news, you may have noticed, this past year, that it is long with its advertising stop-sets, and short with TV news; and the news itself could be lackluster, at that.

@@bayarea90s-tv46 It's definitely been a steady decline for KRON and it's been sad to watch. Definitely far from its golden days.

I moved away from the Bay Area 19 years ago, but, my awareness with how Nexstar operates its TV properties, and currently owned KRON; I can imagine the station is a shadow of itself when compared to decades past.

@@bayarea90s-tv46 Oh, so Young finally unloaded it after wanting WAY too much for it. NBC tried to buy it a few times like 12 or 15 years ago or thereabouts (and KRON-TV would've been a big "get" for them), but the Youngs wanted $750M for it, so NBC finally said "to hell with it" (understandably), bought the KNTV license instead and moved the transmission facilities up the bay and branded it "NBC 11."

This is incredibly helpful as I am doing research on San Francisco right now for my thesis. Are there more of these for the 20s onward? Thank you so much for uploading!

It’s kind of messed up that that guy took a seat that was technically meant for women and children and then after all that.. he kills himself. He should have just stayed behind.
