Awesome! Don’t forget to let people know who are interested in fishing the West Fork of the SG River that it’s single hook barbless fly only and it’s 100% catch and release. You can use your spinning or casting gear, it doesn’t have to be a fly rod and reel, but it’s gotta be a single hook barbless imitation fly as your bait/lure. You can dry fly or nymph wet fly or streamer, whatever you want just so long as it’s single hook fly barbless and release everything you catch. The warden does make his/her rounds and if you get caught in violation you will receive a hefty fine and your fishing equipment will get confiscated. The laws are in place for good reason here. This is one of the few fisheries in Southern California left that supports a population of native Pacific Rainbow Trout. These are not stocking bred rainbows. These are their wild un domesticated cousins. I believe you are also supposed to fill out a survey of how many fish you caught and released and their sizes and then drop it off in the drop box or at the ranger’s station at the end of your fishing day. These are beautiful gems of our local mountains and forests. Let’s all who want to partake in them do so with respect and in obedience to the regulations. Let’s be smart, responsible, safe, and above all else…. let’s have fun fishin! 🎣

Wow, very nice, that was a so called West Fork lunker I have heard of for a long time, now I see it. I have fished at West Fork for three times, but only the farthest is 3 miles in. How far did you bike in beyond the campsite? Thanks for sharing this video.

Beyond the campsite for sure, but not all the way to the top. I hooked it two weekends in a row and haven't seen it since.
