i learned how to play this song by watching one of the videos you released awhile back in slow motion. the thing that confused me at first where that low C came from so i just tuned the 6th string to that and then i heard that F note right after and just tuned the 5th string that note. I was like this is a weird tuning but i like it. Now i’m just here to learn the chords haha

Hi San! I would like to ask you about the alternate guitar tunings that you use. How do you know when to use a certain tuning for a song? I myself want to get rid of standard tuning but it seems difficult to choose the right tuning for the track. I would very appreciate if you could show me some tips. Thanks! :)
@djudlz75505 жыл бұрын
hi, i know it's been a while since you asked, but maybe i can answer it for you. For "show me" he used c f c f a d instead of e a d g b e. As he said, he uses the first two strings as lower bass notes. The other four strings are just one note down from standard. If you play an A major chord the way you would do on standard tuning but on d g c f a d (one note down each string) you get an G major because g is one note below a. So for other tunings you got other chord shapes. What kind of tuning you use depends on what you want to create. He wouldn't be able to play show me the way he does, because he wouldnt get a low c on any fret. The best way is just to play around with other tunings, or maybe just create your a custom tuning as san did. If you got more questions just hit me up. cheers

dude, im covering this song with 3 of my friends who plays guitar.(im playing the beats n other percussive sounds) THEN, i have some questions. in this song, there are some chords played by pedalsteel especially in the chorus sections, and i wanna know its tuning and chords. i hope you notice me and reply this comment;)
@riccardocorsini15 жыл бұрын
This tuning is an open F so it may be a variation of that/ try to get out the chords by ear it's the most useful thing you can do for yourrself as a musician :)

Can this be played on the piano?
@djudlz75505 жыл бұрын
yes it can. As he doesn't tell you what note he is playing for every shape you uses, i would recommend to use a table of all notes on a guitar neck and write the notes down you see as he plays them. You need to take each note one lower. The first two strings are played open - so that would be simply c and f. It would be actually a little bit easier on piano. And remember: the 12 fret is one octave higher than open. It makes it a little bit easier to encode the notes. For example: open e string is e - finger on the e string at the 12 fret is e but one octave higher.
