From what I’ve seen, the Sharks have played so much better than last year. We never give up and are gritty. Whenever Celebrini has the puck he makes things happen and gets us excited. So excited to see what Askarov brings tomorrow!

Thanks Prof. This Sharks season has been much more fun than last season, not just the new super-kids, but the overall competition level. And it feeds on itself, more exciting games mean more fans in the Shark Tank, more fans generate more excitement. It's been a while coming, I wish I still lived in San Jose to be at the games in person...

Sharks are performing about to expectations in my opinion. Still not fun that we're losing but the high picks will be worth it, and they've been playing mostly competent hockey recently.

Not a bad game. My takeaways 1. I rarely talk about reffing but tonight was brutal. I counted at least 3 egregious penalties that weren’t called especially in the third. 2. Thought Smith had a bit of a rough game defensively. But the forecheck of Dallas was smothering 3. Ferraro did have a slightly better game. But look at the second period with 7 min left. Completely uncontested in the defensive zone he gets the puck and immediately throws it at the boards fails to clear and it leads to continued offensive pressure from Dallas. The guy just cannot handle the puck. I’m really hoping he gets traded this year because he is just brutal to watch. 4. Want to see Celebrini sometimes opt for the simpler play. He’s got the creativity but I want to see him get some greasy goals and get on the board.

5: Granlund 4: Eklund, Celebrini, Zetterlund, Walman, Liljegren, Grundstrom 3: Blackwood, Ferraro (wow!) Kunin, Wennberg, Toffoli, Thrun, Ceci 2: Smith, Dellandrea, Kunin, Kostin, Rutta 1: Goodrow Didn't rank Thrun because I actually can't remember what I thought of him writing this the next day. Really liked Grundstrom's game again, he is just so good at recovering the puck (especially in the O-zone) 4th line overall was a bit worse but given how good they were vs detroit I think they should get another chance together
@tjue460712 күн бұрын
Great video. When do you think the Sharks bring up Shakir and Luca? Rutta is obvious candidate to go. Is Goodrow practice for Musty or Martone?

Mukh at this point will probably be when the Sharks trade one of their dman (or one gets injured), Cagnoni I don’t really see getting called up this year sadly, unless it’s just for a couple games to reward him for a strong season at the tail end of the season.

The youth was outmatched. Will smith was a giveaway machine, and Celebrini got out-bodied due to size. Granlund should have got a call…

Hey Professor, "Deck chairs on the Titanic." Hahaha Another gem Professor. Have you ever considered going to an open mic and trying stand up man? hahaha So following your analogy if the Sharks are arranging deck chairs on the Titanic does this make Dallas an iceberg? hahaha Did you notice how it seems like Dallas swarms as a 5 man unit in all 3 zones? They were very effective at shutting us down in all 3 zones and taking possession of the puck in all 3 zones? It sort of seemed like there were more Stars' players at all times they executed their plans so well. Sometimes in sports the other guy can make a play too. Sometimes you just lose the one on one battles because the other guys are good too? Looking forward to hopefully seeing Askarov for the first time tomorrow as well. Thanks for the fun video Professor. Pete Clovis, CA

I thought Thrun had a nice game away from the puck. He did some serious work to keep our crease clear and had a level of physicality I don't normally see from him. That said, he still struggled with the size of Dallas forwards at times but that's to be expected.
@professorhockey11 күн бұрын
Yeah he was a good bit better after his struggles in the first.

A bold call
@Flyboy24512 күн бұрын
Was definitely less than thrilled with the officiating this game. However, I am a soccer referee, so I can understand the difficulty of making the proper call, split second, in the moment. We have the benefit of slo-mo, playback, and Birds Eye view
@professorhockey11 күн бұрын
True, like I said, I’m not so much upset about this missed call on Granlund, more the lack of whistle after he went down, that’s not as much a split second decision.

At some point, hanging around shouldn't be acceptable. It really shouldn't be now. We keep shooting ourselves in the foot, and the youth hasn't produced outside of an OT winner. The future is bleak, man. Yes I have been drinking, how'd you guess?
@professorhockey12 күн бұрын
At some point it won’t be acceptable as you say, but honestly, I don’t think that point comes this year. If the Sharks can do well against bad teams (like Monday against Detroit) and hang around with the better teams like tonight, that would still likely get them a top 7~ pick which is pretty good.

After last night Celebrini is on pace for only 39 points, and has been often stuck in his own end a lot. Do you think he might benefit from going down to the AHL where he can dominate and regain his confidence, maybe a Shane Wright type of development plan?
@professorhockey11 күн бұрын
Absolutely not, he is way too good for the AHL.
@TheLilLeeroy11 күн бұрын
@@professorhockey Doesn't seem that way so far, but we'll see. His scoring rates are really low, and I think he'd benefit from a more standard development path.
@professorhockey11 күн бұрын
If he plays every single remaining game on this same exact pace, he’d have 39 points like you said, but in 70 games. These aren’t fantastic numbers, but are still quite good for an 18 year old. With that being said, his 9 game sample size is way too small to say he will just continue at this pace. Celebrini could “easily” put up 3 points against the Blues and suddenly he’s on pace for 56 points, which is very good. It’s not even a numbers thing here for me though, just from watching him, it’s clear he belongs in the NHL, the scoring will come.
@caravaggiohs902011 күн бұрын
sometime you should take a player's 82 game season, divide it up into 8 game segments, and look at how wildly different each 8 games is. Sports fans in general are extremely over reactionary to stats based on tiny sample sizes.
