Fantastic news for the Sharks! Hopefully next up is picking Celebrini and getting him signed. Those 2 with Eklund, are a huge step forward for San Jose moving into the future.

Eklund is actually rly good too. His stride is gross.

Great analysis as always Professor! This is great news for us Sharks fans and for the organization

This is the best move for his development. Smith has such a high hockey IQ and he needed new problems to solve. Repeating another year in college where he’s already mastered scoring wouldn’t be as helpful as competing in the NHL and learning from mistakes.

Great video man!, can’t wait to see what Smith, Musty and Celebrini do. Have you considered painting your wall teal? That would be more fitting than the bright yellow lol

That’s not a bad idea 👀

So excited for the future! It will be funny to watch one of your more recent game review videos compared to one in a year or two and see the difference in enthusiasm haha.

Can’t wait for that!

If smith is going pro I assume celebrini will too I’m sure sharks have said how important it is for both players to grow together since both are the future

Guess we'll see, wish I could say I have absolute confidence in the ability of this organization to develop prospects

It remains to be seen how this new leadership group is able to develop talent I think, gotta keep our hopes up though!
@ianhall66144 ай бұрын
It’s gotta at least be better than the last regime. At least Grier is more up front with expectations and the game plan for the team. All Wilson ever was was playoffs, playoffs, playoffs. Having any sense of drafting? Who cares, trade all the picks that turn out good and keep the niche European “hidden talent” guys. So far I have nothing but faith in Mike Grier
@willstuart56814 ай бұрын
That's not a fair statement at all, Doug was known for making great value trades for draft picks and drafted well. Wasn't until the end of his time in San Jose where it was all about that elusive cup... Hard to stomach coming so close all those years. @@ianhall6614

Can’t wait till draft day and the upcoming offseason to see what moves Grier makes. Definitely more veteran depth to help usher the new kids along. People expecting a big FA signing or trade will likely be disappointed, way to early for that (and what high end FA would willingly come to SJ right now? None)

Can Klim Kosta protect Smith and/or Cellebrini?
@professorhockey4 ай бұрын
From the limited time he’s been with the Sharks, he doesn’t really seem like that type of player
@prosperfireson4 ай бұрын
Hey Professor, That is huge news. I have mixed feelings about his signing. I really want the Sharks to find a player who can protect Smith, Celebrini and Ekluhnd. I don't want to see another Thomas Hertl incident and while I am not necessarily a fan of fighting I don't want to see teams feel free to "welcome" the rookies to the NHL with nasty hits. I am still pissed at Dustin Brown for what he did to Hertl. That knee on knee hit has permanently affected Tommy's life and career. That is my greatest worry for those young stars in the making. I kind of wish that they would have taken one more year of college hockey to allow themselves more time to develop physically and help develop their ability to protect themselves. Regardless, very exciting times for Sharks fans. Who will they hire to coach these young men and who will they sign to help, protect and mentor them? Pete Clovis, CA
@professorhockey4 ай бұрын
I understand the hesitation, that Hertl injury was really tragic. However, that’s not something you see everyday. Look at Eklund and all the other Sharks rookies over the last couple of years, they’ve managed to hang around without getting majorly injured in such a way. There is always a risk, but I think it’s worth taking
@prosperfireson4 ай бұрын
@@professorhockey Logically speaking I think you are right Professor but, let me add a couple of names: McDavid and Bedard.
@prosperfireson4 ай бұрын
@@professorhockey I think your right Professor but, I think the young players most at risk are the talented ones who look like they could be somebody. McDavid, Bedard and more. In fact young Marco Sturm was injured while chasing down a puck to avoid icing. If I recall he may have been "helped" by an opposing player so that he could not protect himself and suffered a serious injury to his leg.
@professorhockey4 ай бұрын
That is a good point as well. I imagine Grier will evaluate and make the proper choices this offseason
@prosperfireson4 ай бұрын
@@professorhockey I totally agree. I have confidence in Grier who came of age in the NHL as a good and very fast player during the chasing pucks to avoid icing and lots of players got hurt doing this. He also came of age at the tail end of the "enforcer era" and I am certain he see's all the same things we are discussing as he lived it.

Will there be a BU- BC rivalry between Smith and Celebrini? Will they be roomies on roadtrips?
@professorhockey4 ай бұрын
I doubt there would be much of a rivalry, at least not for that reason. Perhaps since they are both highly competitive guys and are both highly touted prospects there might be some friendly competition though.
@ianhall66144 ай бұрын
San Jose? Quality prospects?? Pinch me I must be dreaming
@JapaneseAmericanaJiuJitsu4 ай бұрын
Honestly the Sharks need to pick up a Rempe or Arber Xhekaj like player in free agency, the top talent is there but protecting these younger talent is important, that Bedard injury this season is proof enough people will take a run at a prospect willingly. You have a player like Rempe or Xhekaj, it will keep most players in line me thinks….

Want to see a line of C-Celebrini, LW-Will Smith, RW-Kappo Kakko… trade over 2024 42nd and a mid prospect (ozzy wiesblatt?) for Kakko
@professorhockey4 ай бұрын
Interesting trade idea! I think a coach would want to get a more veteran presence on a line that featured both Celebrini and Smith though
@SharksOregon4 ай бұрын
@@professorhockey that does make a lot of sense, but I still want what I want… and call it the 3rd line unless it is undeniably better than that.
