People are complaining about the price, but if it said Seiko on it and was being sold at the SW-200 price, people would be snapping them up and feeling they got a deal. And that would be with the typical Seiko mineral crystal, hollow end links and crappy pressed clasp, and a non-hacking, non-handwinding movement. People, this is a great deal! Excellent finishing, quality parts and a company that's listening to their customers, not taking advantage of them as much as they can.

I don't mind the smaller clasp - I like the bracelet to be a bit loose, so if the fit is right, I don't see myself tempering with micro adjustments anyway. Plus on my small wrist the bigger old clasp would be too loud.

I wish SM would introduce a clasp with 3 micro adjust. The bigger clasp with 4 is way too big and the small one with 2 makes it too hard to get a perfect fit. They keep getting better with each release, so hopefully they address it in the next one.

The finishing of this watch is simply fantastic, 10 out of 10 points for this watch. Actually I don't mind the smaller clasp, if you happen to get a good fit with it, it'll look even better and also wear more comfortably. I'm not so sure whether San Martin always listen to their customers. Still there are way too many watches in their catalogue with inconsistent branding, with two or sometimes even three different logos on their watches, i. e. hex logo on the dial, shark on the caseback and ugly $-sign crown.

I totally agree on the finishing. Did you watch the video where I compared it to the Submariner? It was almost on par (I hope I don't offend anyone by saying so but a fact is a fact). I really hope they get rid of the ugly S, I love the shark though 😁

I bought this as soon as it came out and have had it for two weeks now. It's San Martin's very best watch to date, they got everything right: proportions, colour, dial lay out, finishing, QC. I will certainly order the black dial one as well. I hope they will come with more dial colours. If they do, I will certainly consider purchasing those as well.

With the absurdly insane prices of the Shitlex OP. The price is very fair the level of finishing. The last 20% of the finish detail takes 80% of skilled labor hours dedicated to finishing. Metal finishing take patients and skill with several different abrasive grades . Great review.

The watch safely arrived as scheduled and already sitting stylishly on my wrist. My third San Martin after the two subs. I am satisfied with the watch. Accurate as described, including this review by Horologique. Awesome tiffany dial colour, solid case, strong lume and bracelet with clean finish. The Sellita movement which I opted for over PT5000 is doing fine at keeping time (and I paid lower after price adjustment by Ali Express). My only complaint is hard to tighten the screw-down crown. Although it is not really a big issue. Overall the watch is a win at this price point, plus fast delivery by Ali Express and good customer service experience so far.

I have 2 SN-020-g limited edition. I blue and 1 black. The blue came with small lock and the black came with the larger. I guess they’re using both at their discretion. I don’t think one is replacing the other.

They seem to have switched all versions to the new smaller clasp. I have 2 SN-020-g 39mm watches also. The blue limited edition which had the larger 4 micro clasp which I prefer and the other is standard version that shipped with the smaller 2 micro clasp and the Orient movement. I got lucky for now with the small clasp as it fits ok but probably won't be good when summer arrives. Still both are very nice watches. I like this revised 36mm version except for the small clasp.

Love this watch…I have three SMs and all of them are just great. However their prices have been climbing which makes it difficult. Their Pepsi gmt for example cost almost $400…that price range is entering into entry level Swiss watches. I just hope SM aren’t creating a void in the value market because their product is really outstanding. Cheers!

I bought a San Martin watch sn-021 recently and the experience has been rather poor. Just wanna share the story so people know what to expect from San martin in this situation. The watch is finished pretty nice for the price. The lines are crisp and sharp. But the pt5000 movement was broken out of the box, would not hack, stop running randomly (3 times in less than 1 min), and the minute and second hands have bright white lume and the rest have patina lume. Their customer service rep was frustrating to talk to, implied that I didn't know how to operate the watch at first and made me jump through hoops to prove the watch was broken. Even then they only agreed to send a replacement movement. Meaning i'd have to pay to get it fixed locally. (costs 100 canadian dollar at watch repair shops) I wasn't happy with the offer so I started dispute, and after sending even more videos to prove the watch is broken, they agreed to let me ship back for warranty repair. I liked the watch still and was ok with that. But I told them that they need to fix the hands too because the mismatch really ruins the dial. They told me there's nothing they can do and all their watches are like that. (What the fuck?????) I ordered dial customization they told me there's no return. I intended to keep and reviews were good. So i didn't think much of it. But when you ship me a broken watch with a dial that looks different from your product pics, that changes things. Since they refused to fix the hands I wanted a refund. I even told them that they can keep the 60 dollars I paid for dial customization to be fair. They agreed to refund me after days of arguing and now they chanegd their mind again and only want to refund me half. Still disputing this but I want to share the story so you know what to expect from san martin when shit goes wrong.

Aftersales is clearly the weak point of Ali Express watches, however if you detect a problem within 1 month you have the Ali Express security which will reimburse you no questions. Although many brands like San Martin, Cronos and others come with a 2 year warranty it's actually kind of hard to activate it as your experience has shown. San Martin are trying to develop local resellers with local warantees, let's hope that catches

Olivier, I have been looking for the "perfect" Explorer homage, and I think I've found the best so far. And it comes from Addiesdive. Who would have thought?? I have just received it and it's lovely. 39mm case, box sapphire with great AR. Seiko NH35, deep black gloss dial, applied indices, very good lume, and a good price. Comes with either Mercedes or snowflake hands. Only two issues: no bracelet (yet), and slightly thick midcase. I suggest you get one for review. I really do love this.

Absolutely amazing release by San Martin. Besides the clasp, I don't really see anything I don't like about this. Shame about the price though. I got my Seiko SARB033 for slightly more just a couple of years ago. Incredible how AliExpress prices have gone up so much lately. Great review!

Thanks mate! Yes the SM is a better watch which is totally normal as it's 3 times more expensive 😉. The blue here is I would say a bit more pale blue than the greenish of the PD. I'll try to publish a photo on my Insta 👍

SM made some improvements but I will never buy another watch from them. They had V1 of their 39mm Explorer on their AliExpress store for the 11/11 sale. After I paid for it, they told me I was getting V2, which has the inferior 2 micro position clasp (I can't get a proper fit) and an inferior YN55 movement that is not accurate. Also the fautina on the hands does not match the indices and the back of the watch case has a sharp edge that can be felt on the wrist. I then bought a 36mm Alpha Explorer for much less $ and I like everything about the Alpha far more than the SM. The Alpha feels just like a Rolex Explorer 14270 from the 90's.

It's a nice-looking watch, but...San martin has a deplorable after-sales service therefore an illusory guarantee and Aliexpress is experiencing big logistic problems for the time being: I am still waiting for an order made early December 2021 (Aliexpress doesn’t want to admit it is lost). So a watch at this price, however pretty it is, made by a brand that is characterized by a deplorable after-sales service combined with a significant risk of losing the shipment along the way doesn’t commit me to make such a purchase. Anyway I already have 3 San Martin (2 of which have been big disappointments) so considering the above and the price I would be more interested in buying from renowned brands, obtainable in my country, offering flawless quality and exemplary after-sales service. I guess that Olivier has a lot to show to us in that matter, I look forward to it.

That is a big point indeed that big brands have over Chinese ones, although brands like San Martin and Pagani Design have warehouses in Europe where these kind of problems can get sorted out. As for the Ali Express guarantee they allow for items they declare lost is huge, but in tge end they will reimburse you if they lost it. Good luck mate!

That's a tricky question. Build quality is much better and lume also, but at 3 times the price it depends on what you want. If you just want the cool colour I would say no. If you want a quality timepiece I would say yes 👍
