The Municipality of San Miguel is a 4th class municipality in the province of Leyte, Philippines. According to the manuscript, a long time ago, the first people in this town were only a few, so their homes were scattered in the forests where they tilled land for subsistence. Later,
some settled along the seashore, and they fished for food and as a means of livelihood.
As time went on, many of them lived in a place called "Sabang" which means "mouth of the river," and later it became a small barrio. This was the period when the "Moros" from Jolo, who were pirates, forced women to go with them to Mindanao so they could be sold to their "datu" or ruler, as cooks or laundrywomen.
And during World War Two, American and Filipino forces captured San Miguel from the 14th Area Army of the Imperial Japanese Army under the command of Tomoyuki Yamashita. They proceeded to advance towards Barugo on their way towards the main headquarters at Carigara.
Every September 29th of the year, San Miguel Leyte celebrates its town fiesta. According to their Municipal Mayor, there will be no grand celebration this year due to the pandemic, but they are hoping that next year everything will be back to normal and, in God's will, everything will be better and brighter.

Na miz ko pumunta dito at napakaganda ng community i was here last 2017 during Fiesta ng Senior San Miguel at napakasaya tlg ng Fiesta sa Probinsya and the people mga tao d2 ay napaka babait mga teacher,estudyante at mga taong naninirahan I went to Simbahan,Munisipyo at Function Hall nila babalikan ko e2 at syempre sa nag invite sa akin na Lesigues Family🙏❤️ with Tatay Buboy next year September babalik ako diyan sa Fiesta
