San Pedro de Atacama. We Discovered Another Valley of the Moon

Welcome to another adventure in the Atacama Desert in Chile!
In this video, we will take you through the driest desert in the world (except Antarctica), to visit a lesser-known part of the Cordillera de la Sal, and discover some of the “gems” of the Atacama Desert.
We will start the activity in the picturesque town of San Pedro de Atacama, an oasis in the middle of the desert, to go to an area that is located near the Oyope ravine.
Along the way, we will see endemic vegetation, mainly chañar and carob trees, whose fruits were important ingredients in the diet of the Atacama ethnic group (since 580 BC).
The desert will surprise us with some rarely seen phenomena, which we call the “gems” of the Atacama Desert: dozens of small natural salt chimneys, curious filaments of salts, mainly sodium, and finally, a river of salt.
We will travel through dozens of mounds of alita or mineral salt, as well as natural formations of clay and other minerals, until we reach a hidden valley.
Then, we will go to a better-known area, called Vallecito, to have a surreal experience with an abandoned bus in the desert, an attraction for those who enjoy photography.
