MANIPUR has produced 19 olympians so far who have competed across 5 disciplines: hockey, boxing, weightlifting, judo and archery. The MANIPUR's athletes have participated in the Olympics since 1984, with notable achievements including a bronze medal in boxing by Mary Kom in 2016 and a silver olympic medal in weightlifting by Saikhom Mirabai Chanu in 2020. In the recently concluded Paris Olympic 2024, Nilakanta Singh was part of the bronze medal winning team in hockey and the list goes on..... Apart from Olympics, there were 9 U-17 FIFA World cup players from Manipur and their names are: 1) Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem (Goalkeeper) 2) Amarjit Singh Kiyam (Midfielder, Captain) 3) Jeakson Singh Thounaojam (Midfielder) 4) Boris Singh Thangjam (Defender) 5) Nongdamba Naorem ( Forward) 6) Anirudh Thapa (Midfielder) 7) Sanjeev Stalin (Defender) 8) Sumit Rathi (Defender) 9) Ningthoinganba Meetei (Forward) They are current playing in ISL and other major leagues around the world. Also, Women's football team from MANIPUR is currently the 22 times national defending champion which is a great feat in itself. And they are still going strong 🔥🔥🔥 Oinam BemBem Devi also known as Durga of Indian football ( also a 2020 Padma Shri Awardee) & Ngangom Bala Devi are living legends of in Indian women's football. Bala Devi is the first indian woman footballer to sign with an European club (Scottish club in 2020).

@aPanGBa I only commented in the context of olympians and players from MANIPUR and not the games which originated from MANIPUR. Everyone knows Manipur gifted the beautiful game of Polo (Sagol Kangjei) to the world. Idk why u got so offended for not mentioning Polo. But m glad u mentioned it. While u'r at it, do mention any famous polo players from MANIPUR also. I hope this helps!

If the government gives any focus to Manipur on sports and art there will be many more players and artist on international level but government is neglecting North East region specially Manipur but eventhough Manipuri people are struggling to fulfill their drems. Before getting medal no one helps them but after the medal Govt try to focus on us just to take the fame and thats disgusting. Yes we will the pain and bcoz of the behaviour or nature of them we felt like we are not Indian

The body builder is a patient of HIV AIDS but he tried hard and become a champion. And we don't leave cricket we have a bowler name rex singh who took 10 wickets in a test match the second person to do so after Anil Kumble. Also the captain of U-17 FIFA World Cup captain was also from Manipur Amarjit was his name.
