I love maps and Sanborn maps are my favorite. I share with my local genealogy/history group the way our town changed through the years. Street names and numbering systems are shown. When the buildings were built and changed. I take local news from the early days and map where it was. Thank you for making these available

I just randomly discovered these maps yesterday and today this video shows up! Ha! I LOVE the Sanborn maps I found! They are perfect for illustrating the story of this one ancestress to show where she lived at one point in this little NC mill town. It didn't have the houses and addresses, but it showed the streets and in relation to her husband to-be. Ha! But, I don't think I got them from the LoC... 🤔 think it was Duke or something. Mine were saved in 3 different resolutions. But this is awesome information to know they can be easily located for so many other cities!

Wow! No idea this existed, even though I've checked out LoC many times. Thanks so much for presenting this & for Ms Stoner! Wishlist item: Google creates a 3D version of the maps that we can explore and "walk around" like our ancestors did. (Using photo overlaps to give you ideas of how the buildings might look.)
