Hello doctor. I did microscopic discectomy, during this treatment doctor did Bil hemilaminectomy also. My question is the bone he cut and removed will effect total strength of lumbar in the future? And these bone will re grow and being same as the full bone of before surgery?

Sir, one of my queries regarding microscopic / endoscopic Lumbar surgery is that, after the herniated portion of the nucleus pulposus is removed and the never gets decompressed, HOW DOES THE CRACK OF ANNULUS FIBRIOSUS heals since there was a crack and a passage of the nucleus. Won't it be left cut open ? Or any external coagulant is added?

Hi Prathistha excellent question Annulus fibrosis heals within six weeks to 8 weeks after there is a cut so during this period patient has to be resting and avoiding strenuous activity so that the recurrence of the disk through that rent is avoided after two months good core stability, exercises and proper ergonomics will ensure that the disk doesn’t leak again
