This game needs a new game plus mode where you keep all your skills and equipment from your successful play through and then play the game in an advanced mode with more powerful demons, powerful equipment, elemental effects and new abilities to unlock, mini bosses, branching paths, and variable end boss...
@rahdo5 жыл бұрын
that would be cool, another great idea for expansions :)

@@rahdo I haven't looked at all the powers, but when you did your play through you gathered a lot of demons on to your board by moving forward alot. seeing you do that I just immediately thought AOE attacks are begging to be added and exploited. Imagine chain lighting (maybe if multiple demons have a same die facing your attack hits multiple demons, or if you kill a demon you can reroll, or maybe if you roll doubles or triples/ change the dice so they are that way they do different effects..... To make sure players don't just abuse clustering demons like that, some demons would probably need to be immune to some effects and some demons would have to have rules that effect movement (every time you move it summons a demon token thats easy to kill but rewards you with nothing, or maybe auto attacks you so you need to stop and face it. The idea of life being points is interesting to me... It sort of bothers me that you can't gain more life. Maybe if there was a new game be plus mode and the game was just so brutal they needed to add more life they could just add a double sided life token. Once you go to zero you just flip the token and go back to 10. And easy trick to increase the life to 20. So many ideas.... I think this game has insane potential. The bones of the game are solid. It just needs that little extra something to make it fly. Definitely Co op and solo mode need to be added. After that I hope they add more character skills to play with, mini and end bosses to keep the games replay high. One last idea... If they added mini bosses at the end of some of the boards(acts).it would be pretty cool to have branching paths that lead to different bosses or treasure. If each boss had its own unique treasure reward deck, it would give players an interesting choice... Who should I fight(which treasure deck should I go for), should I even even risk fighting(I might take damage that can't be healed... Maybe I should go the safer route or pick the easier mini boss.)

I completely agree with your 2 misses. The lack of a solo mode is my main concern though. As of right now, there are 2 threads in the BGG forums for solo variants, so all is not lost for us solo gamers

I was going to make that comment too, solo is a must for me.

This game is a Viticulture in seek of its Tuscany, or a Cyclades in search of its Titans... The negatives you pointed really seem to be explained by CGE rushing this game to make it to Essen this year... So it is disappointing in some aspects but it is such a nice system that all indicates the game will be "fixed" by expansions, so I wouldnt be surprised if we are here again in one year from now discussing just that... And that is why I am keeping my copy.

does cge put solo options into any of their games? i think it's just a blindspot for them...

It looks like a great intro game for some of our younger board players, also has a great push your luck element, in resting, do I push further, and hope for a good role or do i stop and rest. Etc. The game itself is only 55$ Canadian which makes it a pretty safe purchase, the only drawback as mentioned below is no solo mode. Which is one of my six rules of game purchasing that I use to evaluate games for my collection? When thinking about it, maybe you should do a show on how you evaluate games for your collection, might be a fantastic discussion on your criteria on what influences a game you may purchase personally.

actually since my show has become popular, i don't buy games anymore, because if i do, they'll never get played, because i feel i should prioritize review copies that have been sent to me...

@@rahdo I appreciate that, or else I would have missed a game like Sanctum as it was not even on my radar, but for our game club here it is a perfect game.

Nice take on a fun game - I played it down at BGG!

Any follow-up since the official solo rules came out? Rules published free on both CGE website and on BGG as its own game entry (for some reason). Even better than what you suggest: instead of a fake player racing you, it’s simply that the final boss gets stronger the longer it takes you to get to him - e.g. each time you take the Rest action.

Hi Rahdo, after all these years have you ever found a good game with similar mechanics that you maybe think do better than Sanctum? Thanks!
@rahdo6 ай бұрын
hmm, well the combat via dice worker placement was pretty popular in sleeping gods, and years before sanctum there was the very cool and sadly overlooked Wrath of Magmaroth. but combining the combat and the traveling through the world is pretty unique, and it being competitive is pretty unique too. for other ideas, i'd suggest asking at boardgamegeek.com/forum/8/bgg/recommendations

Hey Rahdo! How are you!? Mayle from Brazil here! Let me ask you: why don't you do the extended videos ti the end of the match, once the ones seeing it don't care if the video took 3 hours+. lol 😊 I love your playthroughs and would love to see them till the end! ❤

the problem is, the longer i play, the more mistakes i tend to make, and the more off the rails the whole game goes. so i try to film jsut enough so folks can decide if the game is worth buying :)

@@rahdo I see. Talking for myself, I think your mistakes hilarious and enjoyable. But it is, of course, your channel and decision. 😅 Just saying: I would love to see them till the end. ❤️ Thanks for answering me!

Rahdo that is a shame as the whole point of the game is to build up to the final stage boss fight - so it’s a kinda half baked play through - Pity !

good idea, but i can't come up with 10...
@ionutsandu28305 жыл бұрын
True, wait for 2022 or so? There has been a recent surge on KS for games that feature epic boss fights. Like recent campaigns for Aeon Trespass Odyssey, Oathsworn and Bloodborne. Also Dice Throne Adventures and the amazing Too Many Bones, which you should definitely check out someday, at least TMB Undertow which comes in a normal sized box. I assume KDM goes into the bucket as well but I know very little about it

The demo fight phase look too luck driven and highly unwinnable. Is there advantage to moving ahead of another player? Seems like you would want to crawl and make minimal moves to give yourself time to level up BEFORE getting to the demon phase. Just like an RPG video game I suppose. Level up before going into a big battle!? Bottom line; do YOU think its worth spending $50-$60? Quick fyi; (u probably already know) dev has official solo rules now. See BGG. Again, worth it only for solo?

@@masterbridgemaster1 yes, just like every dice game in existence (or every game that features a deck of cards). the important thing is there's more than enough dice rolling in this game that the probabilities flatten out and everyone gets highs and lows.
