Sand Heads British Columbia Salmon fishing 2. Rough water smackdown!

In today's follow up episode we target salmon in Sand Heads, BC
Well known to fishermen as a holding zone for salmon to enter the south arm of the Fraser River which is marked by the Sand Heads light house. Fishing can be really productive in this location and is a spot that thrills many local anglers. Anglers flock from far and wide when regulations open the fishing grounds for recreational salmon fishing. A quick 20-minute boat ride from Steveston, Richmond BC gives the quickest access to this area.

I believe it was below 10kph and .1ft every 2 secs for swells on the app. I'm weary and cross reference nowadays. That's the 2nd time Windy App has been wrong for me.

Definitely! Good, I didn't cross to the island. It would've been a rough ride home. I had one wave come over the bow at one point. Still, it was a good day. I can't complain 🙂

Hey hey! Thanks for stopping by @bigbc5293 ! I enjoy fishing so much, it explodes out of me 😆. It was a really productive opening this year, can't wait to go back. I've heard of others filling their freezer of herring from sandheads in the winter. I may try this as baits super expensive and Jigging for herring is really fun!

Once u find them, it's non-stop action. It's really fun with a group, especially kids, with a light rod.

@anthonydabs_710 Sure thing! They move around tho. Once u see a bait ball, stop everything and jig away! Calmer the waters the better. It's so easy to drift away from the bait ball

You have to! It was such a good September, I'm making sure I'm booking it off every year. All our set backs are roughly 15 to 20ft back. 75 ft on the rigger was the magic number just north of light house. Can't remember the depth of water but seems everyone had a productive September. I've seen some amazing Tyee reports!
