Yes, air down and keep the momentum up while in the sand. You did fine ! Did you go to Toquerville Falls ?

We did make it out to Toquerville Falls. That was such a fun drive! The waterfall was much larger than we expected. We didn't get in the water since it was kind of cold but I would love to visit it again in the summertime. Have you been there?

@jayalbornoz2303 Are you referring to the Sand Hollow for Wimps trail? Yes, it's part of the Sand Mountain trails at Sand Hollow State Park. We started on the Grass Valley side and used a GPX file from Jeep The USA, their site appears to be down though 😔 keithandlindsey.com/sand-hollow-for-wimps-3-0-our-wildest-jeep-drive-yet/ If you are referring to Toquerville Falls, as the previous commenter did, you can find more information in this post. keithandlindsey.com/jeep-drive-to-toquerville-falls/ That area of Utah is so much fun!! What else are you planning to do?

I’d download any maps you can find, since there will be no service out there. You can look for the following waypoints; Kissing Turtles, Flintstone House, Hobbit House, Top of the World (sand dunes are right there too), and Toll Booths. It’s a pretty big area and you could easily get turned around, but it’s also very open and you can go about anywhere.

We just completed this drive in a stock rubicon JLUR. Took 4 hours with a couple short stops to take pictures. The ending of the trail (last few seconds of this video) is MUCH worse in 2021. The trail has eroded and there are two significant drop offs including that last multi point turn. I actually backed down to the last turn and inched my frond end over little by little to come down it with my left side on the edge of the road without hanging the rear end. If you would rather avoid these difficulties find another way out like the water tower road. When we got to the sand dunes I started to get a bit queezy and worried we'd get stuck (partly due to lack of experience driving on dunes). I hopped from sand to hard pack and made my way toward the lake but inevitably had to drive back up a sandy trail towards bathroom anyway, at least we avoided most of the big dunes. This trail was a blast to drive. Download the Gaia gps app and download the free maps available from UPLA dixie4wheeldrive.com/store/southern-utah-trail-maps/ they were really helpful to see all the available trails.

The sand dunes were the scariest part for us as well. I just kept thinking that we would end up sunk in the sand and stuck there forever. 🤣 Thankfully, the dunes actually weren't that bad once you got onto them. That's crazy that the final exit trail is that bad now. It was pretty crazy when we were there. I can't imagine it now from the way you were describing it. Thanks for the tip about the Gaia app. I didn't realize that they had 4x4 trails on there.

Thanks for sharing 👍 Great for those of us that have a not so capable rig to enjoy the area.

Thanks so much for watching and commenting! We are glad you enjoyed it. This would be a great area to rent an OHV or pay for an excursion.

Hello Keith and Lindsey, enjoyed the video. We have been to Sand Hollow before, but did not know of this trail. We are headed back that way next year and would like to do this trail to get a couple of the newbies used to this terrain before taking on some of the other trails. I do not recall seeing this on the Sand Hollow Map, where do you pick up the trail head after you enter the park??

Thanks for watching our video! This trail was so much fun. It was definitely one of our more adventurous drives in Utah. We have a post (keithandlindsey.com/sand-hollow-for-wimps-3-0-ohv-drive/) about the drive. You can also find more information and the GPX file for the drive on the Jeep the USA site: www.jeeptheusa.com/sand-hollow-for-wimps-30.html . The trail actually starts outside of the Sand Hollow state park. The route starts just south of the Grassy Meadows airport. If you use an app such as Alltrails you can upload the GPX and then navigate to the starting point. Let me know if you need any more details about how to find the trail or if you have any other questions about the trail itself. All in all, the trail wasn't too difficult, even for a couple of rookies like us. 😁 There were a few spots along the way that did require some thought and preparation though. Good luck out there and let us know how it goes. We can't wait to make it back down to the St. George area to explore more of these fantastic trails.

How long did it take to drive this trail??

I want to say that it took us about 4-5 hours to complete this drive. We weren't driving fast though. We stopped at a number of sites along the way and enjoyed our time in the desert. I would guess that the route could be completed in around 2 hours if you didn't stop.
