Hello, I did this trekking from Darjeeling to Sandakphu in Dec 1973 as an eighteen year old lad. There was nothing at Sandakphu at that time. Only a trek route and a dilapidated wooden silk-route days inn with bunk beds to spend the night, free of cost as no one was there to receive money from us. But we enjoyed it so much with our college mates !

Can you please suggest how many layers of thermal sweater socks etc is required for this type of weather.. That will be helpful.
@ArijitSen
@ArijitSen 2 жыл бұрын
After your basic clothing, you can put on a fleece jacket, then a down jacket or any other outer padded jacket. If it gets too cold than you can add a thermal before your basic clothing. The idea is while you are trekking you may feel very hot, in that case u can easily take off the external down/ padded jacket. But after reaching the camp site or while u r resting along the way, do not open any of the layers because you may catch cold immediately and turn sick. Let the body temperature come down slowly and then take of your layers if required one by one. I carried normal socks and a woollen one for night time while sleeping

It is extremely difficult to reach nip station from Phalut within one day if car is not operating. It will mean you have to start early morning from phalut, then reach a point where transport is available by at least 3pm so that you can reach station in time. Can’t see any other option.

Hi Arijit da, 2 years back I decided but could not go to trip. I now have my tickets booked, to NJP and back to Kol. 4th Feb around 9am I will be reaching NJP. My plan is to stay the 4th Feb night at Tonlung, is it possible to reach Tonlung from Manebhanjan on the same day, if I reach the place around 2-3pm. from 5th Feb Morning I plan to do the entire trek by foot. 5th Feb halt at Kalipokhri 6th Feb halt at Sandakphu. 7th Feb halt at Srikhola 8th Feb leave from Srikhola head towards to NJP to catch my return train to Kol. Is this trip and plan feasible. I will be doing a solo trip. So let me know, if this can be done, and from which place the guide will accompany me, and if you know the rate card. This is kind of a budget solo trip. Thus asking a lot of questions. Sorry and Thank you :)
@ArijitSen
@ArijitSen Жыл бұрын
you will get the guides from Manebhanjan office which is just by the side of the road from where uphill trek starts towards Chitrey. reaching Tonglu on the same day if you start at 3pm is difficult by foot. however if you take a drop to tonglu by land rover it is possible. your guide will accompany you during the journey, it may get late evening by the time you reach tonglu, specially when you are carrying your own backpack. rest journey plan is ok, barring the first day.
