I was born in Sandle Magna in 1961, attended Manygates School until the age of 8 then my family emigrated to Australia in 1969. Always loved playing in the castle ruins. Thanks for the memories.

Thanks for this. I've never seen it. Just maps. Edmund was 17, however. 12 year olds weren't on the menu until 1483. It may have been snowing. Far more likely than at Towton, for which we have only Hall's Chronicle. Thanks for the view of the ruins and the commemorative monuments. Many Lanes Road. Cheers.

Hi Chris would you do a video on the Civil War Siege of Sandal please? Surprising that Sandal managed to hold out to be one of the last Royalist Strongholds to Surrender.

I believe that the Grand Old Duke of York was about the Pennines as the top of the hill.

Good video but music too loud.

Sorry, I want to watch this but the background music is too loud and a very poor choice - percussive sounds and voice don't mix.

I too played amongst the Castle ruins and the field opposite Manygates school. Even from a young age, I found the atmosphere on the field to be disturbing. Couldn't wait to get away from it.
