SANDANKYO, HIROSHIMA // 三段峡 (Japan Hidden Gems)

If you're looking for things to do in Hiroshima, I would recommend adding Sandakyo to your list. It is absolutely beautiful there and the trek to Sandakyo Gorge isn't too bad either (I'm generally not into hiking but I was ok with this one - not much up/down hill and a beautiful reward awaits at the end of the 50 minute or so hike).
You could also go river kayaking like we did - there's a beginner and advanced course. Though Torii and I have been kayaking many times before, we'd never done river kayaking so we opted for the beginner course which turned out to be a little too easy, but was still nice being out on the water.
Sandakyo is the first of my JAPAN HIDDEN GEMS series which will focus on places in Japan that are lesser known or frequented. My aim is to introduce as many hidden spots as possible and hopefully inspire you to want to experience them for yourselves.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply! Hope you enjoyed your trip. There was a kayak school by the river which offered various levels of kayaking experiences. If you've gone kayaking before, I would recommend not doing the beginner course because it's very easy and basic.
