Sandburg Middle School students received a serving of sweet potato pie on Friday. Robbinsdale School District staff baked the pies using a recipe from Golden Valley resident Rose McGee, who founded the nonprofit Sweet Potato Comfort Pie. The dessert is rooted in Black history. “I'm just hoping the kids will go, hmmm - for those who have never had it before - I would like to know more about this dessert,” said McGee.
