Sanders, snow plows and dump trucks!

It was a hodgepodge kind of week! I started out in a Mack sander, then a Ford F-350 plowing snow, then a T-800 hauling sand, a Mack Pinnacle hauling mixed concrete and finished in my W900 Kenworth.

Was out plowing for our county a few days ago and my oldest son say's hey dad there's a guy on KZbin called The Boston Trucker who showed up in my feed, is that the same Boston where you grew up. I said I don't know the one I'm from isn't the only one in the US bud so he plays the video and we're looking for anything that would give us an indication if it was Boston Mass or not. Then your radio report started listing the roadways back home and the condition they were in and I started to chuckle and said that's the Boston I'm from alright and par for the course its a mess when it snows lol. I left more than 30 years ago when I enlisted and haven't been back since my parents passed back in the early 2000's, I work in the critical disaster/ mutual aid response field now but it was good to see home through the eyes of a fellow Bostonian. Hi Mike In, my fleet of Mack Dump trucks 4 Quads and 1 Vision Tractor with a dump trailer. I have 1 M Drive and I really like it I'm 65 now been driving since I was 18 and I like taking a break from shifting having the auto brake system hold you on a hill with a load on, pulling a trailer with equipment on it in stop and go traffic is so less stressful to. I still have 4 manual Macks so I get my shifting in whenever I want, I just bought another Granite with an Allison automatic we will see how we like it never drove one so it will be something new to try. This was another great video Mike.

I use the spray plow wax, spray silicone and spray white lithium grease all over the truck in the winter, definitely keeps the salt from getting a good bite. Go through 2 cases of each every winter here in NY. Had a foot of light powder last week, definitely a light winter this year so far. Last year we had "60 by this time. My little trucks bought a big truck with just driveway jobs, lol! Stay safe, Mike

Talking about the automatic transmission trucks,Allison or Automated manuals like Mdrive. Companies like where I am are looking at maintenance costs. Supposedly the automatics are easier on the drive line and tires. We still have some manuals. But from here on,their all automatic for us.

Allison has its uses, automated manuals do not. Some guys prefer Allison when plowing. I plow with c15 18 speed, 8x2 truck, honestly I'd consider a career change if I had to drive an automatic.
