He is living proof--that can't really be disputed, that you CAN be a nice guy, and a terror on the mat. One thing does not make the other thing impossible. Just went about his business, disrespect to no one--and beat em all--all.

Cael Sanderson is the greatest coach in the history of amateur wrestling!! Not only does he win national titles, with multiple individual champions, but teaches his guys to always be respectful and humble in victory and defeat. Great role model, great human being! I almost forgot, great wrestler also! 👍👏

Cael Sanderson is a class act. I love his coaching philosophy. He is a true sportsman. Such a contrast to the Brands brothers philosophy of pound your opponents into the ground and 'make them pay' for daring to step onto the mat with a University of Iowa wrestler..
@jomama969 Жыл бұрын
They’re both great coaches. Different approaches for sure, but the overwhelming majority of wrestlers have the same “impose your will” style that the Brands bros emulate.

Believe me, I'm a PSU guy and Cael fan all the way, but I love the Brands brothers. They are great for wrestling and are so entertaining. Cael's interviews are usually about as interesting as watching paint dry.

Such a good man. I hope to meet him and introduce my kids to him. Respect your opponent, respect wrestling, respect your team, respect your family as they too are most closely associated to the wrestler. I teach my kids that everyday. When it's over, it's over, when it's on be the most brutally fair opponent anyone can imagine.

This is why I watch college wrestling and not any professional sports. It's the CULTURE that is important. In wrestling, it's hard work and sacrifice done in small, smelly wrestling rooms for no expectation of gain outside of having your hand raised. It's an internal motivation. I dread the day the sneaker companies take over wrestling as it will then assume the culture of the nba, nfl, nl and not be worth watching. At least for now, wrestling belongs to US.

Always appreciate the other person doesn't have to compete against you. It's a sport and without an opponent you don't have a match. Your opponent's are essential for your growth and improvement make sure you thank them, win or lose. ;-)

Coach Sanderson practices what he preaches and his teams reflect his beliefs. Penn State wrestlers always shake hands after a match, and I don't know if I have ever seen one of their wrestlers try to injure an opponent. Many other coaches and teams act this way. I cannot think of many that do not. I can only think of one outlier, actually. College wrestling fans know who I mean.
