The other side, born of rigid training and craving but ignored by her and her admirers under the excitement of bengali film-playback and light songs. She found no real place in the classical music circles and conferences of Kolkata. We hail Mira Bandopadhay and Malabika Kanan but not her, not as a classical vocalist, to say the least.

@@santoor_naad I have been listening to her AIR classical vocal programmes ever since 1975 and always wondered why she is not more in it. I remember her mesmerising me with the evergreen Bade Ghulam Ali pieces like 'Prem Agan Jiyara Jwalaoe' and Baju Band khulu khlu Jay' ,all in Kolkata radio programmes. Anyway, thanks for the response. Please don't lose touch .

@@soumitralahiri9393 My Maternal grandfather, a passionate Sarod player, beloved disciple of Shree Shyam Gangopadhyay, once shared a memory- when he(grandfather) was very young, one of his close friends, Shreepati Mukherjee (Bakulbabu, the respected classical trainer ) had invited him to listen to his teenager cousin(sister)'s song. The girl was with her short height and dark complexion. She sang...And after listening to her, all the people gathered there, including my grandfather, became absolutely speechless. And The little girl, was none other than the very personality going to become an epitome of singing one day- Shreemati Sandhya Mukherjee. The way you 'Decorated' your comments and described the sad irony hidden behind an unparalleled Artist, I feel myself lucky having gone through these. This is about 'MargSangeet' which creates an evident way that goes directly to the Destination of the Utmost Spiritual Consciousness. In Buddha Philosophy, 'Soul' is considered to be a Stream of Consciousness, and we are fortunate enough to at least listen to the Nourishing melodic tone of Shremati Mukhopadhyay to take a very little humble part in that never-ending float of Cosmic Cognition.
