What an awesome video! I bought a 10 x 20 shed with front porch to keep my village up year round. Some wonderful ideas in your video. My husband wants to add a train also. I need all the help I can get. Have been setting it in our house, but have outgrown it. Thanks for the video! Wonderful! I have about 70 houses and businesses and I'll have room to grow!

Thank you so much! I had convinced myself it was Fezziwig's Ballroom so I'm glad you responded. I like the piece you have much better! Showed your video to my husband last night- we are just starting our collection so won't be setting up until next Christmas but we both agreed that your setup is ideal. Have no idea what I'm doing but at least I have a year to figure it out :-)

great video and village! We used the hot cutter also but they kept breaking so my husband ingeniously used his soldering iron and it cuts through 4-inch Styrofoam like butter.

You can get a foam cutter at Hobby Lobby if there is one near you. Also I have a new video up this year but not an instructional one. Just my new 2012 which isn't much different from 2011. Glad to have been of help. When I first started out I searched magazines and internet for any help I could get .....

How do you make your pond and streams? What materials are needed ? Please help
@31bigquinn12 жыл бұрын
Not totally. I take pictures and store sections together. It's prettty much a start from scratch kind of project. I label certain pieces of styrofoam that are cut in unique ways so I won't have to do it again. For me putting it up us more fun that the finished product. I especially like cutting styrofoam with the hot cutter landscaping with moss and rocks....also putting in lakes and streams. The only part I really dislike is doing roads but they make it look more authentic.

Can you tell me the name of the piece at the end of the video? The victorian home where the dancers rotate through. It's amazing!

No it is Department 56 from general accessories I think. It may be retired but I'm sure you can still find it on-line.

Ok the skating pond is a Department 56 general accessory (I'm on my second one!) All of the rest is blue insulation bought in rolls from the hardware store. Very flexable and easily cut with scissors. Once I put it into place ( use small florist pins stuck into underneath styrofoam) I can shape edges by using different size rocks. Then sprinkle fake snow and sparkle (from any Department 56 retailer or hobby store)

do you have to start over each year?
@sgsnider112 жыл бұрын
Yes I think it does...I have several pieces of both and use them together in my Victorian Golf Village.

Dept. 56 : "Christmas at Ashby Manor" (Dickens Village Series). I think it is retired but you can still get it on Ebay and some of the other on-line stores who carry Dept. 56. Just google the above name and lots will come up.

@wwwCOMMANDOGAMINGcom The moss is "florist moss" and is available at most craft stores. The artificial snow comes in a big plastic bag and is also available during the holdiays at most craft stores or year round any store that carries Department 56. You can also order the snow on-line from any Department 56 retailer.

This is truly beautiful. And it's very kind of you to show others how to construct a Christmas village. But the tempo of the music toward the end of the video is borderline panic attack-inducing. Jiminy Cricket!
@sgsnider16 жыл бұрын
You should know that You Tube is very picky about copyright music so you have to use their generic stuff which has to be looped. I would have used I tunes so try not to be so quick to criticize

Please watch Department 56 Workshop on water. I have seen a couple of videos where they use real water with pumps. They show the tutorials on KZbin.
