Sandisk Micro SD - Ultra vs Extreme Pro!!

Video rate on our cameras is rated in mb (megabits) these cards are rated in MB (Megabytes). 100mb 4k video is 12.5MB and the Ultra writes at 47. Getting those numbers right makes a big diff. I have ultras and they handle consumer 4k video just fine..

I recommend Ultra because it's pretty reliable. I've had a few of these almost 10 years. Never had one stop working. I also have a Sandisk iPod from 20 years ago and it still works. The Extreme Pro is faster but it gets hot, and it costs more. Not 100% sure if it's worth it because heat reduces the lifespan of electronics.

Have to disagree partially. A current GoPro Hero 5 records 4K at 60Mbps (Mega"bits") that equates to around (60 divided by 8) 7,5MB/s. A Ultra with a, as you stated, 47MB/s write speed would therefore already be plenty quick enough.

Car Karl shitty 4k shot by drones, which indeed as you mentioned doesn't take up too much space, but when it comes to slightly professional cinematography whose vedios have an way higher bitrate and a much longer duration than those of portable devices, an extreme pro is required. Also, the use of better MLC NAND flash is what mainly differentiates the 2 cards, and this could also explain the longer lifespan of extreme pro.

Sandisk Ultra and other cheaper cards have difficulty maintaining consistently high write speeds as well as being much (and I mean *much*) less durable. When constantly writing high bitrate video to these cards, expect a Sandisk Ultra to fail much faster than the Sandisk Extreme or Samsung Evo cards, as well as lock up your GoPro every now and then because the card can't keep up.

Hello I hope that you can answer my question. I recently purchased an action camera the Akaso Brave 4 and I'm trying to figure out what type of 64GB micro SD card do I need. I would like to be able to record video in 4K, but some people are telling me that the Akaso Brave 4 does not record in reel 4K. I don't know what that means because the camera has the option to record in 4K, 2K and 1080p HD and 720p HD. So I hope you know what I am talking about and I hope that you can recommend a 64GB micro SD card that I should use with my Akaso Brave 4 action camera, that will give me the best video quality when I am recording. I don't think you covered the difference between read speed and write speed. My understanding is the write speed ultra is 10mb/s max vs 90mb/s for the pro

Good video - looking to get a Samsung Tab A 10.1 T580 with Android 6.0 bundled with a 12 month "The Australian" subscription - since this vesrion of Android has the capacity to use a say 64 GB as Internal Storage as well as the 16GB Internal ROM it answers some questions here. For the extra $14 am thinking it is worth going for the extreme.

If you removed it when the phone was on, you may have corrupted the data. A reformat would fix that, but you will lose all of your data.

I would say yes. Recording high quality footage is often uncompressed and needs a ton of throughput, but watching an already edited video will need much less since it will almost always be a much smaller file.

Just so happen to have a digital camera with a 64GB Extreme Pro micro sd. After reading the above comments decided to test it. Transferred an 8K video over to a 16GB SanDisk Ultra micro sd. Very surprised playback was smooth but Julius Kingsley makes a good point.

Just found my Sandisk 64G micro sd card stoped working last night. My phone noticed sd card error. Now the card turns to be read only, it can not be formatted on Windows 10 laptop or Android phones, the files can not be done any change. I thought Sandisk was a good brand, but i was disappointed. I got a 32G USB stick failure within 2 week as well. I want to claim warranty. but first, I could not find the original receipt, and second, the files on the card could not be deleted, so, I have to keep the card.

If you are only playing multimedia, ultra would do the job... If you will use it to record videos, like bike footages, car etc... go for the extreme.

Android adoptable storage needs SanDisk Extreme Pro to get good performance. SanDisk Ultra will lag and freeze.
