F 4.0 marked the point at which simulation essentially reached maturity. Not that it couldn't get better. But beyond this point, improvements have been refinements, rather than transformational changes. Today, Falcon BMS 4.37 with VR support is still based on the original Falcon 4.0 code base and is highly competitive with DCS World, and in terms of hardcore F-16 based realism, it's better than DCS. Plus the dynamic campaign is unmatched by ANY sim.

It has dynamic campaigns. Actually, one of the reasons people play the modded modern version (Falcon BMS) over DCS World is the really great dynamic campaign system.

Falcon 4.0 in original form is online....HOWEVER finding someone to play with is unlikely. Falcon 4.0 has been improved upon (to the point its hardly even recognizable) by a group of modders and that is available for free with an original copy of Falcon 4.0. And it is online, plenty of groups, and fully VR capable now
