There is a 'balancing' trick needed to encourage anyone to relax, a friendly tone which also needs to sound gentle, and - oddly - not too confident. It is one of this man's. J.

It’s a generational thing. Many of us older ones (and I’ve got an MA) went through the pre decimalisation education system and unless our jobs required such knowledge, we plod along with our clumsy conversion sums in our heads. In my case 5cms=2ins and Jeremy’s kms workings out. Weights I’ve never mastered and have therefore never bought anything from a deli counter or visiting European food stall. It isn’t terminal, you get by…and always take your steel tape to Wickes! I’m 75 now so my marathons weren’t 42.2kms ‘ish.
