My next job is to drill about 1000 holes to 316L Stainless. Started today with 880 D18 drill. Hole size 18.5/4xD. Vc 165 Fn 0.09/rev. chips were really short. I can probably add feed to make it faster. I love these drills.

No Aluminium shown here? Is it even possible to drill aluminium materials with an indexable insert drill in a reliable process ?
@sandvikcoromant5 жыл бұрын
Hi Max, Apologies for the delay in answering your question. Of course you can drill Aluminum with an indexable insert drill, you just have to know how to apply it. A pure and unalloyed Al will need different cutting parameters compared to Al with a high amount of Si. Also tool life will be radically different. I suggest that if you want to get a first hint you can use CoroPlus ToolGuide to see how different aluminums behave. www.sandvik.coromant.com/en-gb/products/coroplus-toolguide/Pages/default.aspx Best regards, Tomas Furucrona Global application specialist

Re "flexible Spiral" Spiral is incorrect, Helix is the correct word. As a top quality tools manufacturer you should know the difference in meaning! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiral en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helix en.wiktionary.org/wiki/spiral en.wiktionary.org/wiki/helix
